urso_polar
Economy car wanted , Hotwire is 14.95Are there any current bonus money opportunities on Name your price? At what price point should I start bidding?Mark Link to comment
dahammer
its a crap shoot, but I bid $9 for an economy car in Atlanta when HOTWIRE was $14.95 and won through Hertz. Total with fees and such was $20.86, I got a Prius, it was kind of fun to drive. The clerk really put the hard sell on me for extra insurance, but I declined. Link to comment
thereuare
With time on your side you can start at $9 and go up a $1 a day. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. szymon
Economy car wanted , Hotwire is 14.95MarkOne thing to keep in mind - $14.95 * 7 days at Hotwire = $170.65 total.Alamo using the 1 free day coupon at vacationoutlet.com for a compact = $156.71 total. So HOTWIRE is not cheaper than booking direct.Szymon Link to comment
urso_polar
Any experience renting a car via priceline the day of rental ? I am thinking of arriving at the airport , asking at the counter for their best rate & then trying to beat it with priceline. I am currently 1 day away from my travel date. So far I've bid Economy (via better bidding's link) $9, 10 & 11 with no success.your suggestions are appreciated.Mark Link to comment
thereuare
I think it's risky to wait until the last minute... at $11 what is the total including fees and taxes (and how does that compare to your back-up reservation) What is the per day and total that HOTWIRE is currently showing? Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE link for your purchases. urso_polar
you are probably right back up reservation - save u rental $165 (including all fees)currently hotwire is showing $20 per day a jump of $3 from yesterdaywhat do u think I should bid on p l now? Link to comment
thereuare
Is the HOTWIRE rate the best rate available (even when comparing to direct bookings)? If you are rejected will you have one more oportunity to bid tomorrow OR are you already inside of 24 hours of your pick-up? I assume if you are rejected for an economy a compact car would be fine as well? urso_polar
no, the back up save u rental is better than HOTWIRE. save u rental backup is equivalent to a $14 p/l bid.i am within 24 hours yes. I should bid 12 & 13. Do you agree ?thanks mark Link to comment
thereuare
If you're fine with Save U Rental as a rental company then your bid amounts seem appropriate as any higher would not generate any savings. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. urso_polar
Do you have any doubts or concerns about save u rental ?thanks Mark Link to comment
thereuare
Nothing in particular but i generally like to stick with the larger name rental companies, especially if i'm going to be traveling more than 10-15 miles outside of the area i rent from. If there is car trouble (cars to break down) i think it would be taken care of quicker and a replacement vehicle more readily available with one of the larger companies... so just a comfort level for me.
