Rookfan
Hi all together,Another "success" during our US summer trip. Using the PRICELINE link, started bidding for 3* and hoping for Portsmouth (Kittery outlets area). All rebids from$45 up to 65 rejected.Started the browser again and then 2.5* from 39/45/49/54 and "won".Best Western York Inn's own net prepaid rate for 1Q-bed room is $81.My conclusion, looking at the total amount including fees and for only 1 night, Priceline is not always worth it -but it's a nice game ... :) isn't it ? thereuare
Congratulations on your win!You still did save something, but you're right, there are times (especially in small cities) where you really have to doublecheck hotel direct rates and set a bidding limit to make sure the savings are worth the 'exchange' for an opaque, and non-refundable, purchase. This is true no matter where you bid, but it holds more true in smaller regions, as there are fewer hotels and therefore less competition, which means less reason for hotels to discount too deeply. As well, with hotels where the rate is under $100/nite, there is much less margin to discount compared to a 'big city' hotel where rates can be upwards of $200-$300 or more!Thank you for using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding, and sharing your winning bid with the board, helping us add this property to the Priceline Hotel List.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
