Colfax
Since April I've been to Seattle three times, 20 nights total, all at hotels. Of the cities I regularly visit Seattle is the very worst for getting Priceline deals. (I know New York is worse.)There are bargains to be had at SeaTac and and in Bellevue but within the city of Seattle itself (Downtown, Lake Union, University/Northgate zones) I've had little luck winning hotels I like up to $75. Weekdays, weekends...it doesn't matter. And when I get a good hotel (Lake Union Residence Inn and Hotel Deca have been my favorites) I can only win it for isolated single nights. All my Add a Night requests in Seattle have been rejected. The following bids were rejected for a Friday/Saturday night stay, May 16 and 17. Bids were placed on Thursday, the day before. The same bids were then rejected for Friday night alone.$85/2.5* Lake Union (Residence Inn was $170)$80/3* University-Northgate $75/2.5* University-Northgate$60/2* University-Northgate (Extended Stay America $84.99)$60/2* Downtown$60/1* Downtown (I verified that the Space Needle Travelodge was sold out before bidding 1*. I don't want that hotel again.)I ended up booking the Marco Polo Motel at 4114 Aurora Avenue for $62.10, AAA rate. A Seattle local suggested the Marco Polo to me. It's very basic 1* accomodation. I drove through the parking lots of several motels on Aurora and this one looked less scary to me than some of the others. I made it through the first night without incident and hope to live through the second. Link to comment
