meenie
Trying for the Venetian, I guess I'm too cheap!Failed bids:$110$120$125$130.... i also didn't receive any counter offers. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! These are weekend dates, and the hotel direct rate at the Venetian is $329/nite, so the chances of success at $130 or less are extremely low (i just never say never). Is this your maximum bid for this stay? If not, how high would you go for a 5* hotel?Do you have a back-up reservation anyplace? If you choose to lower your star rating, what is your budget for a 4* property? meenie
I figured it was wishful thinking. My max is $160.. we probably will end up booking a four star, my friends just hate the uncertainty and we don't want to end up with Luxor. Link to comment

meenie
I would say an average of $150/night Link to comment
thereuare
The WESTIN, is slightly off-strip but in Priceline's "Strip" zone... would this be an acceptable property? meenie
I think we were aiming at Treasure Island, NYNY, Mirage, Paris or something like that. Do you think I have a chance? Link to comment
thereuare
Here's the issue...Since you don't want the Luxor (nor the Westin), you can't "safely" bid on Priceline.Searching HOTWIRE, where you can take certain actions to avoid both fo the above properties, shows 4* hotels that are just out of reach of your budget.New York New York can be booked for $175/nite and that's the closest 4* hotel to your budget, but for an extra $15/nite you could book the Treasure Island. If you'd rather stretch your budget i would book one of the above as a back-up (to protect against any price increases) and then continue to monitor HOTWIRE and/or the hotel's websites for anything that comes within your budget. Please use the links in this thread if you choose one of the above.Your thoughts? meenie
Yes, I'll definately use one of the links to book.I think I will do what you suggested and just crosscheck Hotwire's prices with this site. Thank you so much for your help. Link to comment
