iberbi
Hello,First off, let me say thank you in advance. I am looking for a 4* hotel in Universal City from July 7th through the 9th. I am willing to spend around $130 for a really nice room with a really nice view. Is that possible? And how do I go about bidding for this? Thanks again. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! If you enter "universal city" into a priceline search box (and then select the "Name Your Own Price" option) you'll see that Unviersal City is part of the larger (Burbank - Universal City - Glendale). Since this area covers more than just Universal City, are you able to accept a hotel anywhere in the shaded region that priceline uses to define this area? The highest star rating offered in this area is 3 stars... does that meet your criteria for this stay? You also mention a "really nice room with a really nice view". You can only select the star class, and your 'win' entitles you to a "standard room" at the hotel. As an example, if one side of the hotel faces a beach and the other side a city... you might get a beach view based upon availability and the hotel's occupancy level, but you shouldn't expect it as a hotel would understandably want to give those rooms to their higher paying, rack rate, customers.Based upon the above, let us know if you're able to accept the conditions of an opaque purchase and we'll proceed from there. iberbi
I would really like to stay specifically at that Hilton. If there is no other way of ensuring I'd be able to bid on that specific hotel, I will just get the room through Priceline using the link offered through Savings Barn.Thank you very much for you help.Herb Link to comment
thereuare
You can't bid on a specific hotel, so if that is the only property you're willing to accept you best bet will be to book it thru a non-opaque channel (where the name is shown before your purchase). iberbi
I am supposed to use Savings Barn so this site gets the credit; correct. Link to comment
Colfax
If you click the "Support/Travel Links" tab above you'll find a link to Hilton's website.Booked through Hilton it looks like their best rate for your dates is $215/night though, which is quite a bit more than the $130 you said you were willing to spend. HOTWIRE has a 3.5* Customer Favorite at $158, but as with Priceline Hotwire's 3.5* could be anywhere in the Burbank/U City/Glendale zone. Might or might not be the Hilton. Link to comment
iberbi
Thanks Colfax,I was looking at the room rates there (the Hilton) and that's way more than I want to spend, so I am going to go with the Hotwire price and keep my fingers crossed, that it is the Hilton. And if not, that's OK. It does say it is a customer favorite. That's a plus. Thanks again for all the input. Link to comment
Colfax
It's possible you could win a 3* in the Burbank/Univ/Glendale zone on Priceline in the $70-100 range. But the Hilton is just one potential 3* outcome out of several. If you haven't already purchased you can show your support for this board by using this HOTWIRE link when you do.Please let us know which hotel you get. Fingers crossed for the Hilton. Link to comment
iberbi
So I booked the 3.5* hotel 158 a night using the HOTWIRE link on the support page. The hotel that I got was the Universal Sheraton, and I'm happy with that. Thank you, Thereuare and Colfax for all your help. I will tell my friends about this great site. Link to comment
