I booked this hotel for a two night stay (Wed. and Thurs.) night right before the Super Bowl for $54 on Priceline. Wasn't thrilled when I first got my results but knew that this hotel was an option when only bidding 4* strip zone.

I arrived at the hotel about 11:30 am Vegas time and found parking right away. The hotel is located on Flamingo right behind the Bourbon Street hotel (which is right behind the Barbary Coast Hotel). It is a short walk to the strip maybe 5 minutes. You can also walk across the street in about 2 minutes and be in Ballys. The Westin is much closer to the strip than I thought it would be. When the monorail is open I think this hotel will be even a bigger bargain. I found the front desk for check-in quite easily. There was no mention of Priceline at check-in and they actually offered me a King non-smoking (something I've never been offered in Vegas on Priceline) but I turned it down and asked for a non-smoking double as I was actually traveling with 3 girlfriends this trip. I was told not a problem and I was off to my room on the 5th floor in no time. The room itself seemed a bit small but I'm not sure if that was the case or if it was just all of the furniture that they packed into this room. There were 2 beds, a large dresser with a mini bar, a large desk, two chairs, a table, and lots of lamps for light. The beds were Westin Heavenly beds (very nice after a long day of walking and nights of dancing) and were all white. Our room had all the amenities that you would expect. A safe, alarm clock, mini bar, nice sized bathroom (granite counter tops), double headed shower, bathrobes, and a great 27" (at least) flat screen t.v. Other wise the room was very calming in a sage green type color.

Issues with the room- the floor seemed a bit unlevel under the carpet, like you would feel it when walking and in time I think it will show, the size seeming small (although we did put 4 people in the room), and only one bathrobe but two beds in the room

The hotel itself was very understated unlike the rest of Las Vegas. Was kind of calming and nice. It has easy access parking. The casino in the hotel was small. If you need a hotel that you can gamble a lot in this is not it. There is one restaurant in this hotel. It is open 24 hours, but was a bit more than we wanted to pay (but we are cheap:) The fitness area had plenty of treadmills, weights, bikes, steppers, and t.v.'s. It was completely free with hotel stay (nice added bonus). The pool and whirlpool were also available (it was Jan.) They are only open from 7-10 each day. This is a small area but they had a lot of chairs and cabanas. There will be a spa in the future but they had not even started on it when I was there (Jan. 28-29, 2004). The overall dress in the hotel was at least business casual when I stayed. We are mostly jean types during the day so I think we stood out a bit.

The staff was very nice. We had no problems with them at all. We actually had to call down to the front desk and ask for asistance with getting a lock cut off a suitcase. A friend I was traveling with locked her suitcase and then found out that the key she had didn't fit it! We asked for a lock cutter and a maintance man was up within minutes and cut it off for us.

The drawbacks of the hotel- It is off strip. It is a smaller hotel. The views are not wonderful (we had the view of the parking lot and flamingo road). I think rooms on the other side of the hotel probably overlooked seedy motels. There is only one restaurant and a small casino.

Overall I was really happy with the hotel. We felt safe and got it for a great price, with some wonderful added amenities that you wont get in larger hotels. I would stay here again if nothing else for the beds and overall calm feeling.

Small Room = very as vegas standard goes

Best View = Flamingo Traffic and Bally's Parking

Uneven Floors on the seventh floor as well

Tub extremely shallow and small = leaving shower only reasonable option

Maid service uneven for 5 nights i stayed

Including dirty pillow case dirty glasses

Bath tissue not replaced even though empty paper packaging left on vanity countertop

Stayed for one Sunday night in March. Rooms are just remodeled rooms of the old Maxim so the room size did not seem like anything more than standard. Remodeled bathrooms are tiny bathrooms that were given a westin touch, dual shower heads were cool. Room came with starbucks coffee and the beds are the best part of the room. It is a line they sell on their website called the heavenly bed. I even pondered conjuring plans to smuggle some of the pillows which the website sells for over 50 bucks but did not go through with it. Our floor was the bottom floor of hotel rooms and we had a view of the roof above the casino area. Rooms higher up may have had a better view, but I would not know.

The location is fairly close to the strip, it is east of the barbary coast next to bourbon street(the casino, not an actual street). I did not really roam through any of the hotel besides the casino, there were probably some dining options I did not notice so I can't comment on them.

One possible complaint i could have was the door had to be pulled very very hard in order to hear the click which meant the door was fully closed. I'm sure there could be many a time where the door is closed by someone who thinks it has be closed fully but can be opened with just a push. Not sure if it was just that individual door or a usual problem.

The coupon books they gave during check in had some good gambling coupons. One was for a 20 dollar free slot play when you sign up for the club. I ended up with 27 dollars so it was quite a valuable coupon.

If you have a chance to stay at a 4* theme hotel on the strip for the same price I would prefer them over the Westin. If you can get this hotel for less, than its close enough to the strip to make it not much of a hassle(assuming you don't mind walking a little or have transportation).

I stayed at the Westin April 30th and May 1st, 2004. Was in town for the Kentucky Derby. The rate I got was $138 per night, for 3 rooms. This was better than any of the other "name" hotels for that weekend, so that was fine. I wanted to stay at Luxor, but that was $199 per night.

The view from my room was of the new Wynn resort being built, so that was kinda cool. The room was comfortable, and the beds were nice. The bathroom was clean and modern. We did have trouble with the toilet, but they fixed it. The pool is small, but adequate for the size of the hotel. They have a fitness center, if you need one, and they have starbucks in the Lobby.. a big plus. The casino is small, but that may be a good thing. The walk to the strip is not bad at all. Anyone who complains must not like to walk. Parking was plentiful.

All in all, a decent stay for the price.

My only wish is that they make this a 3.5 * hotel, to separate it from the other 4* places that they offer on the strip.

Since it looks like this has not been reviewed for a few years I thought I would add mine.

I just got back from staying here a couple days ago. My trip was from 8/24/07 to 8/27/07. So that was staying overnight F,Sa,and Su. I got this for 127$ per night. I had bid on it months ago so I forget my exact strategy. I believe I bid a couple times and it gave me an option saying that if I increased my bid to 127 I would get a hotel.

On to the review. By the reviews i had read I was not expecting much. To my surprise I was very impressed. My girlfriend and I arrived early but had no trouble checking in early, they had a room with a king size bed ready without any waiting. The bed was very comfortable. After a 5 hour drive from san diego it was nice to lay down on it for a bit. TV had lots of stations, though no HBO. The AC was powerful but never woke me up. The bathroom was great. Huge mirror as well as a small magnifying mirror. Starbucks coffee and some tea that could be brewed. The shower had dual shower heads that had plenty of force behind them. The view from our window was nothing spectacualar you could see Bally's parking lot close by and MGM far away. Did not have a problem with maid service. Room was always clean and made up after we got back from nights on the strip.

I liked the little casino that was downstairs. I did not get to participate in the happy hour gaming of .25 cent roulette and 1$ craps because that is only monday through thursday. It always had 5 and 10 dollar blackjack though which I found nice after gambling at the 15-25 dollar tables at the bigger hotels. Did not eat any any restaurants so I have no opinion on those.

I thought the location was great. About a block and a half off the strip. Very close to the Flamingo and Bally's both of which have stops for the monorail. We got every cents worth of the 9$ day pass for the monorail. Very central to the strip I found it much more convenient than staying at a hotel that is either on the far south or north on the strip. Easy access to the 15 from flamingo blvd.

The only true negative about this place is that they were working on the elevators. I think they had 6 or so elevator but seemed only 3 would be working at most. They had this posted on their website though I knew of the elevator work before I bid. We never had to wait more that i would say 3 mintutes for an elevator.

If you have a pet you want to take this might be the place for you. We saw many dogs. There is a floor that is pet friendly.

Overall it was a great experience and will hope to get it again the next time I bid for a LV 4* hotel.

Stayed in Dec 07 - I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. It is 2-3 star quality, not the 4 star rating it currently has. It is 10-15 walk from the strip although it is classified as "on strip". They charged me $15 taxes and other fees per night at checkout! although the entire trip was prepaid through priceline.com. I have stayed at numerous hotels booked through priceline.com including other Westin resorts without this ridiculous fee.

Your holiday is ruined if you get this hotel.

First the rooms are small,

location is unsafe to walk in the nights with lots of drunkards walking along with you.

off strip.

be ready to get a bill of $11 per night additional billing for resort fees.

On top of this, today i saw my credit being charged for refreshments fees which is $12 for 3 nights. when i called they said its for the refreshment inside the room, the irony is there was no refridgerator or any thing inside the room. not sure why the heck they charged this fees.

I wrote to priceline and they send me $10 per night rebate for my next travel which i need to use within oct.

but my vegas trip is ruined.

hotel is totally crappy. i even tipped $20 to front desk guy but still got a worst room and worst service.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel, at 139/night in November 2008...a high dollar time due to conferences. The hotel is jsut fine, and the rooms are great. Maybe small, but wonderful beds. If you are in Las Vegas long enough to complain about your room, you need to re-evaluate your travel plans.

Anyhow, the small casino is actually quite nice, no one gets lost. Starbucks in hotel was nice. We did not eat at hotel. Ate at Batistas, and the cute old guy still plays the accordian. Walked pretty much everywhere. Bally's, across the street, had some good bands. Bills Saloon had some awesome waitresses. We walked to Fashion Show mall, but took a $12 cab back to the hotel. Also bought a monorail pass for the day, but did not get out money's worth as we ended up walking most the day. If you get the westin, you will not be disappointed. It is clean, lovely and smells awesome. THe walk to the "main drag" casinos is fine if you have no mobility issues. If you are in an amigo type deal, that would not be a problem. If you are on crutches, it may be more of a hassle. The hotel itself was very accomodating.

I feel strongly this hotel should be 3* at best.

We were here for a convention in 2004 and the beds were comfortable, plu we were rarely in the rooms. However, almost everyone in the convention got a respiratory illness- we figured we spread it around- hugs etc.

With my Netter Bidding know how I would not have chosen this but the relatives we were meeting in Vegas had booked it already thinking it was completely non-smoking so we agreed to stay there too for family harmony.

Because of the atrium design of the casino there is no such thing as a non-smoking floor. There is smoke everywhere.

They had advertised a year round pool on their web site and I need that for my disability for work outs. Their pool was closed. I was upset but switched to second best- exercycle in the fitness center. To my dismay the fitness center had really bad air too- smoky, just bad. I usually feel good after I work out but I returned to our room feeling ill and close to tears at the lack of pool and the all around dinginess and thread bare feel of the place. It has declined. Yes, gthe HEavenly Bed is cozy- but the bathrooms are really small and run down- there was actually enamel chipped off part of the tub. The bath amenities are low rent- the smell gave me a headache. We called the front desk and they not only lied and said the web site states the pool is closed , but they also were not at all helpful.

I finally remembered that there is a Travelocity guarantee that if the hotel is not as described you can get your money back so I called them. The hotel LIED to Travelocity that they had offered us a room upgrade and $50 and we had turned it down- not true- besides and room was not the main problem! We used Better Bidding strategy to move to the Planet Hollywood , which is 4* too, and it was fabulous.

Stay away from this hotel.

Read the previous reviews and thought I'd add a more recent one since I just returned from a weekend here.

Stayed Fri/Sat night 3/27-29/09 and was pretty satisfied with the Westin. We stayed at a 4-star on the strip the night before (cheaper rate) and another off-strip 4-star hotel Sun. night (even cheaper rate) so I think I can give an honest comparison of the three 4-star hotels.

The Westin is off-strip by 1 and a half blocks. It's an easy walk to the strip (5-7 minutes) and not in a seedy area as described previously--how can a parking lot and an empty lot be seedy?

The bathroom is a bit small but the room is a decent size. The Heavenly beds are very comfortable and the bathroom amenities are nice. Room was clean and the staff was friendly. The casino is small as is the bar but the one restaurant (The Suede) had a great breakfast buffet. Starbucks in the hotel was also a plus. There is a happy hour from 5:30-7:30pm--free drinks and hors d'oeuvres which was nice.

The rooms are smoke-free but the casino is not. The outdoor pool was pretty small but the outdoor area was just fine for laying out. Overall, this hotel compared to the others I've stayed at in Vegas was small but a nice change from the noise and crowds at the strip hotels.

Watch out! the Westin Casuarina in Las Vegas charges a non-optional hotel services fee of $15/day for use of the pool, valet, newspaper and bottled water in your room. I got the room on PRICELINE during the 2009 CTIA trade show. STayed the nights of April 1 & April 2. winning bid was $89 each night. 4* I believe. Nice hotel, a block from the strip, easy in/out, no big casino to walk through, easy to Valet your car, no wait. The bed is awesome! One of the most comfortable I have ever slept in! My only complaint is the extra $15/day.

Stayed there Fri & Sat May 1-3, 2009. I would rate it probably a 3.5 Star. Nice and cosy. Rooms were OK. Beds & comforters were nice. Customer service was EXCELLENT. Parking very close to hotel.

Close to Center Strip. Right next to Bill's Gambling Hall & Saloon (for the late night partyers who like Drai's). Also across the street from Bally's and same side street as Flamingo. Caesar's Palace was on other side of Las Vegas Blvd. Very convenient if you go down Flamingo to Rio or The Palms or Gold Coast. Let's you avoid the strip and those meters running up on the cabs.

Pool was small... very small. Pool bar closed at 3pm. Casino was small and actually very cozy.

Lots of pilots came through. Must be the hotel that the airlines have them stay over.

Got the Priceline counter offer @ $110/night and took it. Also add $15 resort fee per day. Make use of the unlimited water. I just tipped the guy that brought it up and got a whole case of 24 bottles. We drank it all! It was a busy weekend, Fight weekend (Manny Pacquiao @ Hatton) so every hotel in Vegas price was off the charts.
