Priceline Hotel: sanibel, marco. captiva islands

A word of caution about bidding in this area of Florida: you're unlikely to find much.

The only "resort" that seems to pop up with any frequency these days is the Hyatt in Bonita Springs. If you search on Hotwire and a resort pops up, you'll know it's available for a little less on priceline.

Otherwise, it seems like mostly La Quintas and Fairfield Inns -- at best.

Not sure why Marco Island is terrible these days (Sanibel and Captiva simply don't have the type of large, chain hotels typically found on priceline).

Another good way to get an idea of what to bid is do a priceline packages search. Pick a nearby city where you can figure out the airfare (do a check on Orbitz for your dates), see what hotels pop up, and those are the ones you can bid on (plus perhaps a few others). FWIW, after subtracting the airfare and multiplying the per person rate by two, I'd start at about 20% less, figuring priceline is marking up its packages for profit.

Good luck.
