WillTravel
I guess there is no remedy other than to keep trying, and perhaps increase my bid. I thought I would post this, because sometimes people don't realize how many failed bids there are, in proportion to the successful posted bids. I've been trying for at least a few weeks, sporadically, with bids from $44-50.This is a Saturday night in a busy tourist season, but surely there will be some inventory released at some point? I have a free night (through the TripRewards guarantee) booked as a backup at the Travelodge Seattle Sea-Tac Airport North, but really, that's not a place I want to stay. My favorite 3* SEA hotel, the Doubletree (well, it's the only one I've stayed at, but regardless), has $103 as its lowest rate, if you prepay. Link to comment
thereuare
With rates that low at the Doubletree Seattle Airport I suspect 'opaque inventory' will eventually be released. Although high season for Seattle, i'm not certain why some hotels keep their rates low and don't release inventory to the opaque suppliers... odds favor your success unless you see a big jump in rates while you continue to try. Thanks for sharing your current experience. WillTravel
Thanks for the encouragement.I kept trying periodically, and once went up to $57.But today, I started a bid at $50 and got a counteroffer for $14 more. With rebid zones, I tried $52, 54, and 55, and won the Hilton. It's not quite so close to the airport as the Doubletree, but I think this will work very well. I have much more peace of mind staying here than in the Travelodge on the highway strip with no interior corridors, even if that was a free room.Who knows - maybe if I had waited longer, I would have gotten something cheaper, but with the general upward creep in prices and this being a Saturday night in August, I can't complain.I went through SavingsBarn.com .
