zebazga
Wow. From all the posts getting the Doubletree at $41, I thought this was going to be easy. It all worked out in the end though. I wanted either the Doubletree or really the 2.5* La Quinta. I messed up in the middle and left out Ontario as a zone so I might have been able to get this slightly cheaper. I also don't know if I'd been between $47 - $51 would I have gotten the 2.5* La Quinta instead of 3*.I'm using another excellent post as a template, including listing the free bids" to get multiple attempts, to outlined my bid history for newbys. I'm really starting to get the feeling that with longer stays you just aren't going to get as low of a price.Ontario 3*................................................$41 Rejected Added Corona, Riverside West/San Bern.....$45 Rejected ResetOntario 2.5*..............................................$47 Rejected Got if you add $13 now pop-upResetCorona, Riverside West/San Bern 2.5*........$50 Rejected added Pomona..........................................$55 Rejected ResetOntario, Riverside West/San Bern 2.5*.........$51 Accepted "Reset" means closing and then re-entering the Priceline website. wsj3200
The price is probably higher due to the multiple day stay. If I understand it right, on Priceline, the bid price must be availible for all days of your stay. $41 seems to be the price I've been getting for single day weekend stays at that location. That price is not always availible on any given day. I usually start bidding 10 days or so in advance. With the new 24 hour rebid policy, it has been easier to not panic and bid too high. Just wait to the next day and try again. Sometime it takes several days, but $41 seems to be the magic number for a 3* in that area. The LaQuinta is a good one to try for but I haven't gotten it recently. It is a very nice hotel for a 2.5*. Warning: bidding 2* hotels or lower in this area is likely to result in a stinky, dirty room based on my experience even though they display brand name marques. Buyer beware. Link to comment
