Stayed three nights at the Lake Las Vegas hotel in Henderson, which is on the outskirts of Las Vegas ,approximately 30 miles away from the main strip zone. Priceline rates this property as a Resort, which means there are resort fees to pay once you arrive at the hotel, $10/night in this case. My bid at this property was less than $50 a night thanks to a special coupon I used on priceline.

And what an incredible deal it was at the price I paid. Hyatt's web site special showed room rates exceeding $180 for a single night, so I paid a third of that.

As I mentioned, the hotel is located in Henderson, fronting Lake Las Vegas, a master planned upscale community, just minutes away from Lake Mead itself. Because it's so far from the main strip area of Las Vegas Blvd (where most of the hotels are), you may not want to stay here if it's your first or even second time in Las Vegas, especially if you're looking for some major gambling action -- it's just too darn far to commute on a daily basis. On average, it took me 30-35 minutes from the time I left my car at the Hyatt to the Strip area, add on another 10-15 minutes to find parking, then walk into a strip hotel, and you'll see a good 45 minutes go by. That makes it too exhausting to commute roundtrip more than once a day.

But like I said, you don't come to the Hyatt just to go to the strip each day . There's a lot of recreation at the hotel itself. Two beautiful swimming pools on separate levels were available to guests until 8pm each night (in October). The lower pool is the activity pool, which also has an incredibly fun water slide going down into it. The upper pool is supposedly the "adult" pool. Both pools seldom had anyone in it while I was there. I could go on the water slide practically back and forth without any wait at all -- try doing that a strip a hotel! One can also opt to swim in the lake, as there is an artificial beach below the activity pool. The water looked too dirty for that though. Peddle boats and Kayaks can be rented from the recreation desk for fun on the lake. Golf is available at neighboring golf courses though I do not play so I have no comment on it. In addition, bicycles can be rented and actually ridden safely through the Lake Las Vegas community, thanks to low traffic and spacious roads/sidewalks. What an incredible place to relax!

Service was great everywhere I went, from the check-in desk, to the maid service, and even the recreation desk made me feel very welcomed. I haven't had this kind of customer service at strip hotels, where often I'm greeted with a pissed off employee somewhere (Bellagio comes to mind).

Food service is exclusively through the in-house cafe. You can either sit indoors or out, both of which have plenty of spacious seating, overlooking the Lake. I enjoyed breakfast there each morning as it was never crowded or noisy, with decent food. Another restaurant is open only for dinner but I did not dine there. A snack bar near the pool is also available.

The room itself was nothing special but certainly not dissappointing. A refrigerator nicely tucked into the armoire was a nice touch High speed ethernet jacks are available for a fee. Bathroom was really small, I couldn't even use the sink without having to close the bathroom door as it was two inches away from the sink itself when swung open. Nonetheless, everything was clean, spotless, without a hint of anything feeing worn.

Overall, i was quite satisfied with my stay. Like I mentioned, if you know well ahead that the Hyatt is far away from the strip and that's OK with you, then go ahead and stay here if you can get a good rate.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency LLV over Labor day weekend. I got my room through Priceline at about $75 a night, not bad. Overall, the stay was nice, but not absolutely positive I would stay there again.

Positives:

-Nice pools

-Nice golf course

-Nice views

-Tranquil setting

-Restaurants were not too busy

-Rooms were nice, not luxurious, but nice enough.

-Mini-fridge in room

-Plenty of parking

-Small casino was not busy, so if you had a group of friends, you could gamble at the same table

Not so positives:

-Casino is small, and not even close to giving you a Strip Casino feel

-No sports book

-Not that many channels on the TV, like HBO or Fox Sports

-Water temp of the pool was too cold, it needed to be maybe 6-8 degrees warmer, it really should not be that cold... it kept people out.

-The kayak rental was too expensive... $20 an hour. Too much for my taste

-There will always be a bunch of kids around

-30 min drive to the Strip

Overall, I would say 3 stars only. If the pool were warmer, and cheaper equipment rental, and maybe a sports lounge, that would put it at 4 stars. But not right now.

The ultimate win on PL: a Hyatt Resort. We had previously stayed at the Hyatt Tamaya in Albuquerque and liked it, this property was no exception. We chose to stay here rather than in Las Vegas proper because we had kids with us, the kids had liked the Tamaya, and we felt there would be more for them here. Our successful (weekday) bid was $89, the web site rate was $189. Although the hotel charges an additional $15/rm/night resort fee to cover services that are either unwanted or are normally provided free by other hotels, we knew about it upfront from reading the website.

Our request for connecting rooms, like all other requests, was met with gracious professionalism and enthusiasm. Hyatt now provides an email address and toll-free number, displayed on the PL acceptance page, for bed type and other special requests from PL customers.

Hyatt Lake Las Vegas is located 5 mi E of Henderson, NV on the manmade lake, 25 mi SE of McCarran Airport and the Las Vegas Strip. Public transportation (bus, taxi) NOT recommended. Awesome facilities and grounds. There are restaurants; room service (24H); convention and meeting facilities (This place would be absolutely perfect for a wedding reception) and a small quiet uncrowded casino (until 2A) with low ($50-100 max) table limits (slots, craps/2x odds, BJ). You do NOT have to walk through the casino to get to your room and you would not know the casino was there unless you sought it out. (Of course, if you are a serious casino player you would be loath to prepay for any room with PL since this would preclude the possibility of your getting it comped.) Two large shallow swimming pools, one for kids with a water slide, 8A-8P. Poolside food and beverage service. Jacuzzi, wading pool. Fitness center, spa, guest laundry; electric pontoon boat/kayak/paddle boat rentals, car rentals, fishing, bird watching, bicycle rentals. Bird sanctuary; desert tortoise habitat. Lake (swimming, boating, fishing), 8A-7P; beach. Golf, tennis. Valet and self parking; gift shop. Computer rental, $48/hr+$1/page. During our August visit the outside air temp was 105

Stayed @ the Loews Lake Las Vegas (formerly Hyatt) Aug 12-14, 2007 won on PL for $96/night. The Loews was ranked by PL as 4*, not a resort. IMHO, the Loews should be ranked as a Resort as it has all the amenities of a resort: on-site restaurants, small market, 3 pools (1 kiddie pool, 1 slide pool, 1 relaxation pool), putting green, golf course, & basketball court. Plus there is a $15/night Resort Fee. This fee covers free parking (self & valet), use of the gym, pool & children activities, daily USA newspaper, but it DOES NOT include Internet access (extra $10/day). There is a computer in the lobby that you can use (free) to check-in & print out your flight boarding tix.

Requested & given non-smoking 2 dbl bed room overlooking relaxation pool. Beds are comfortable w/ down comforters, fluffy towels, 2 robes provided, & nice toiletries. Room safe; coffee-maker; no refrigerator; flat screen TV. Hotel was not crowded as there were plenty of lounge chairs by the pools. Can rent kayaks, paddleboats, or electric-motor boats on the lake.

The Loews is isolated in a community of model homes & golf courses; about 35-45 mins. from the strip. The Ritz Carlton & the Montelago Village is just 5 mins. away (by car) w/ a small casino, shops & restaurants. Albertson's, Food4Less, Walgreen's, & fast food restaurants are about 15 mins. away on Lake Mead Pkway.

The lobby & veranda (overlooking lake w/ turtle waterfalls) are very relaxing w/ plenty of comfortable seats. All the staff are very helpful & friendly. Housekeeping makes up your room late in the day; so don't expect your room to be ready after going out for the morning. Overall, a very nice stay! :)

We stayed here for a conference March 11 to 13, 2009. The staff was professional, efficient and helpful. There didn't seem to be many guests here that were not a part of our conference and the staff seemed very grateful to have us there. The conference food was incredibly abundant and delicious -- lobster tail and beef fillets and heaping mountains of large boiled shrimp. It was all delicious and not over cooked even though it was on a buffet line.

Several staff members greeted our shuttle from the airport and we never touched a suitcase until they were on a luggage rack in our room. Check in was fast and efficient. The facility and architecture is clean and imaginative with various levels and dramatic views. We took a Humvee tour of the desert that included a ride over the Hoover Dam first. That was fun with beautiful scenery and at one point we could see the Strip rising up out of the desert. You could see no surrounding buildings, only the tall pyramid and other oddities of the Strip hotels. Quite a sight.

I had a body scrub and a massage at the Spa. They were running a combo special that was about $70 less than the usual price. It was well worth it. Kwan gave me the best massage of my life, she is very skilled. It was a luxury experience.

The room was nice, beds were comfortable and the sleeping conditions were very quiet. The bathroom is small with a huge door that takes up most of the space but the curved shower curtain rod and the amenities were great. I feel the level of service here was better than that received at the so-called five star Wynn on the Strip where we spent the next two nights of our trip. It is a beautiful and serene vacation site.
