Priceline Hotel: Priceline Bidding Las Vegas

Hello, i’m new to the Board and I’d need your help in a topic!

I’m going to Las Vegas from 16th to 19th September (3 nights) and I’d like to bid for my hotel.

1. If I bid for example 100$ per night, does this include tax, resort fee & parking? and its 300$ guaranteed for 3 nights? or is it just the net fee?

2. Are there any tips for bidding? I’d like to stay at Bellagio, Ceasars, Venetian or Palazzo. But when i bid for 5* hotel in Venetian area, the cheapest hotel shown is the Trump, where i definitely dont want to stay.

I hope you can help me!

Greetings from Austria,

Matthias

Welcome to BetterBidding!

First, note that PRICELINE is continuing to move/hide the bidding page so we have set-up the following page for the quickest and easiest access: BiddingForHotelRooms.com

When bidding on PRICELINE your bid price is for the room rate only... on the next page PRICELINE will show you a 'preview' page indicating the taxes/fees and (usually) the amount of any resort fee, if any.  If your bid is accepted the amount you pay priceline would be the total for the room, taxes, and fees; any mandatory resort fee would be payable directly to the hotel upon checkout.

As far as targeting (or avoiding) a specific hotel when bidding, there is no way to do so... you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you choose.  If there are hotels you're hoping to target (or avoid) then PRICELINE EXPRESS, or HOTWIRE, would be a better option as you can use the clues (along with our help, as well as with the help of our new tool RevealHotels.com) to identify the likely hotel being offered.

Although you're traveling mid-week rates for these dates seem to be a bit higher than usual and i don't think $100 (even at room rate only) has much of a chance at one of the 5 star hotels you're hoping for... what is your maximum budget (per nite before fees/taxes) for this trip?  Once we have an idea if $100 was an example, or your actual budget, we will be in a better position to advise and/or make suggestions.

Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

Let us know the information above and we'll take it from there.

Thanks for your answer.

But when bidding I can choose an area where of hotels. Do you know if i bid at priceline for 5* Strip-Northeast, if there is only the possibility to get Venetian, Palazzo, Wynn and Encore (as it says at Express Deals) or is the Trump a possibility?

And what could be the options for Strip-Central West? (Bellagio)

My budget would be 130$ per night (before taxes & fees).

I see that the Mirage is a cheaper option but do you think there is any chance to get one of the named hotels above with 130$ per night even when its 2-3 days before stay? Do express deals get cheaper when it’s closer to the stay?

Thanks again!

Best regards,

Matthias

There are the only 'known' hotels at the 5* level in the Strip Northeast zone.  I'm very familiar with Las Vegas and don't know of any other properties that would qualify to be 5 star rated based upon how the zone boundaries are currently drawn.

The Trump is in the Strip Northwest (again, based upon how the zone boundaries are currently drawn) so this would not be a possibility if you excluded this zone from your bidding.

Exactly which hotels are acceptable... as in your first post you did not mention Wynn/Encore but you do in your latest post, so are these acceptable?  What about: Cosmopolitan, Delano, Vdara, Aria, etc, etc.  Please clarify which hotels are acceptable and we will be in a better position to comment.

Not necessarily.  While you are taking the consumer perspective that the hotel would rather get some revenue for a room rather than let it sit empty, the hotel may take the other side that you're coming to Vegas in 2-3 days and don't yet have a place to stay!  Think in terms of an airline, if you show up at the counter looking to take a flight in a few hours, you pay the most even if there are empty seats on the plane.  As well, even if a hotel could suddenly go from 75% occupancy to 100% occupancy... they then have staffing issues as they can't suddenly call in additional workers on 2 days notices to cover the front desk, room service, restaurants, housekeeping, etc, etc.  With this noted, rates in Vegas do change more often, and to greater extremes, than any other hotel market in the country.

If your desired hotel(s) are out of your budget, but were in your budget for 2 out of 3 nites (or even 1 out of 3), would SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID be an option?

At the moment i think these are your options:

Vdara (yes, i realize not in your list of hotels) for $137/nite for your complete stay.

Alternately

For 9/16-9/17

Encore $150

For 9/17-9/19

Cosmo $159

==> so an average of about $20 more than you're currently hoping to pay

Of if you want to pursue Bidding for a Hotel Room it looks like the only 'safe' area for you to bid would be the Strip Northeast (or i would need to double check to see if the Central West zone would still work for you as well).

As far as i know/can tell, the only 5 star hotels in The Strip - Central West zone are:

Bellagio Hotel and Casino

Nobu Hotel at Caesars Palace (you didn't mention this one above but it's a 'hotel within a hotel' located inside of Caesars

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection

If you're interested in bidding let us know:

-maximum bid

-dates of your stay (would this be for the full length of your stay or did you purchase the previous hotel for the first nite and now just need the remaining two nites?)

-acceptable zones (would you be bidding this zone and the Strip Northeast zone?)

-any other information you think we should know about your needs

.... we'll then be able to suggest a bidding strategy for you to follow

Do you not see it?

Also, keep in mind that this offer could disappear at any time... especially since you're close to arrival and because it's Vegas (where things change often).

The 5 star hotels that you previously mentioned being interested in have all gone up in price... and the $147/nite option has disappeared.
