Adventure44
What rate would be realistic for a 3.5 and a 4 star in either Downtown zone? I am looking for August 2- August 5th. Link to comment
thereuare
You're probably looking at about $225-$250... more likely on the higher end, but when bidding more than one zone and multiple re-bid zones available we can suggest a strategy that starts low and then reaches you're maximum budget. If HOTWIRE is an option as well i'm also seeing: On the low end: 3.5* HOTWIRE Downtown - Shopping, Dining, & Entertainment for $216.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible ==> Century Plaza Hotel And Spa On the higher end: 4* HOTWIRE Downtown - Coal Harbour, Convention Center, & Stanley Park for $235.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business ==> Coast Coal Harbour Hotel Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
Adventure44
I would like to be under $200. I am familiar with how to re-bid and adding zones. That was going to be my plan. Thank you for all your help. Link to comment
thereuare
Not sure if that is going to be enough given rates, but you can certainly try using the strategy below. Also, a reminder that we have set up a form for the quickest/easiest way to access the PRICELINE BIDDING PAGE now that priceline continues to move/hide the bidding form. Using both Downtown zones i would try as follows: Select 4* Downtown Coal Harbor Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access BiddingForHotelRooms.com Select 4* Downtown Entertainment Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access BiddingForHotelRooms.com Select 4* Downtown Coal Harbor and Downtown Entertainment Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $198, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $200 Any question feel free to ask. If rejected and you then want to try for a 3.5* hotel let us know and we will revise the strategy accordingly. Adventure44
I went up to $200 with no luck for 4 stars. I switched to bidding on 3.5 stars. I used all the combinations for 3.5 up to $200. I did start getting the bid again immediately page for $245 for both the 3.5 stars and 4 stars. What is plan B? I am thinking about getting a hotel where I can cancel. Link to comment

That is a good plan, so you can hope for lower rates in the weeks ahead (but also protected from rates only going higher from here). You can use one of our sister sites, RefundableRates.com, which will allow you to easy compare rates that have flexible cancellation policies, the majority are fully refundable up to 3 days before arrival. (use the star rating filter and/or sort by PRICE in order to see the best options... or you can zoom in on the map to the specific area you want to be near) I know you're experiencing some 'sticker shock' this trip, but keep in mind the areas you're traveling to have the majority of their months very cold (or little sunshine)... so the rates do spike for most of peak season. Keep us updated on your progress and what you decide or how we can be of further help. thereuare
In addition to RefundableRates.com, you should also set up alerts at RateDrop so that if there is any price reduction for the star rating/zone combinations that you're considering, you'll be notified of it right away. Downtown - Coal Harbour, Convention Center, & Stanley Park area 2.5 stars $188 Free breakfast Free internet Boutique hotel Smoke-free rooms Accessibility Accessible for hearing impaired Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom I would be nervous bidding on a 2.5, but it has 90% recommendation rate.
