I'm going to travel to NYC with my friend's family at June 21-24,  We would like to stay in West Village - NYU Area, Chelsea Area or Madison Square  Area. beacuse my friend's daughter like to look around NYU and she also will go to Brown University for Summer Camp at June 24 by train.  we need two rooms with a 3* or up rating with a price of $150 per night or less (excluding taxes).

I am also considering Jersey City - Hoboken area maybe is option too. I saw priceline express deal has 4* hotel for $115 per night in that area. but I am not sure which hotel will be. I hope it is the Westin Jersey City Newport.

And other question is I don't know convenient from there go to NYU or other viewpoints in NYC.

I would love to hear if you have some better suggest. Thank you very much.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

For this PRICELINE EXPRESS offer:

4* Jersey City - Hoboken - Weehawken (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $115/nite with:
Pets Allowed
Business Center
Restaurant
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> the W Hotel Hoboken would be the best guess here (and would be a better 'hoping for' hotel than the Westin, imo)

This would be an easy commute to NYC as you would take the PATH train to 9th St and walk (less than 10 minutes) to the main part of NYU.  HOWEVER, by staying in NJ you do lose a bit of the 'feel' and 'buzz' of staying directly in Manhattan, as part of what makes NYC so special is being able to walk outside of your hotel and having the convenience of being able to do just about anything you'd like, 24 hours a day.  With this noted, Hoboken is also a great town with its own nightlife, restaurants, etc (but it's still not NYC).

Ultimately it will come down to budget as currently the only 3* or higher hotel within Manhattan and under $150/nite would be:

4* Downtown - Wall Street (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $126/nite with:
Business Center
Restaurant
Free Internet
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> best guess for this one would be the Club Quarters Wall Street

I'm very familiar with both of these areas (NYC and Hoboken) if you have any additional questions.

Who will be making this purchase... you or your friend's parents?

Thank you very much for your opinion.

I tried to get 4* Jersey City - Hoboken - Weehawken with $115, but after I placed order, they said the order can't completed. And I checked again, the price already jump to $229 per night.

Do you think the $115 per nightwill come back by any chance before June ?

I would use the EASY VIEW tab of our BiddingHelper.com tool and see if you can get the following to appear (you'll need to click the GREEN 'Full Amenities' button to see the complete amenity set):

4* HOTWIRE Hoboken - Union City for $121.00
Pet Friendly
Boutique
Smoke Free
Fitness
Restaurant
Business
Hi-Speed Internet
Golf
Spa
Room Accessible
Handicapped Parking
==> W Hoboken would be the best guess here and i would see if you can get the transaction here.  Given the retail rate of this property is $280/nite for your dates i would take the $150+ per nite savings and not worry about the $6 difference compared to the no longer available PRICELINE EXPRESS deal

I'm very familiar with this area so feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding travel, commuting, restaurants, etc.

NOTE that if you have a car you will have to pay for parking (either thru the hotel or a private garage) as there is no on-street parking available for visitors in town for more than 4 hours.

Have fun on the college tours.
