Hotwire Hotel: 4/5 Star Las Vegas strip/downtown 4/20/18 - 4/23 2 rooms

Hi,

I am traveling to Las Vegas for the last weekend of my 20s and am hoping to find an incredible deal on 2 rooms for 2 couples... I’m seeing much better rates as the dates get closer, but worry about room availability over 4/20-4/23 weekend. We are flying and will not need parking. I’d prefer to be in a hotel with a casino and spa. In fact the Palazzo is one I think I’d like with a balcony room. Not sure if others offer balconies? I’ve seen a crazy good price for the SLS, but after all the fees it’s not a ton more $ for a 5 Star hotel with a better location. Anyways any input is greatfully appreciated. And yes I have checked the Hotwire listings from this website...but they do not match up with the regular Hotwire website. Should I wait for a better deal as it gets closer to my dates? I’m trying to stay around $100/night not including resort fees...

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Vegas is a hotel market where rates change frequently and are also highly correlated to events taking place in the city.  If rates for next weekend are cheaper than your weekend dates next month, it's too easy to think 'rates are lower closer to arrival' but it may have to do with more events (conventions, boxing/ufc, sport gambling, etc) taking place over your dates vs. the dates you're comparing to.

Standard rooms at the Venetian/Palazzo do not have balconies (i don't know any 'standard' rooms at any Vegas property that have balconies).  As far as i know, only the very 'upper high-end' suites at the Venetian/Palazzo have balconies, and these aren't the rooms you're going to get when booking thru PRICELINE / HOTWIRE... even if they were, they're not going to be offered for $100/nite.

For your dates i'm seeing the following:

5* The Strip - Northeast (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $131/nite with:
Business Center
Restaurant
Airport Shuttle
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Casino
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> best guess would be The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino

5* The Strip - Northeast (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $136/nite with:
Fitness Center
Airport Shuttle
Business Center
Casino
Restaurant
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
==> The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino is my guess here

For each of the above you can also save an extra 5% using the board's Priceline Coupon.

The above are at the low-end of the expected range for a 5* hotel in Las Vegas, so although nobody can say if rates will move lower, or higher, between now and your trip, just the fact that they are near the low end of the range would tend to make the odds favor them moving upward from here rather than downward (as there isn't too much room for them to head much lower, whereas any amount of demand coming in could have the potential to make them move significantly higher, imo)

I think the real question to ask yourself is if it's worth an extra $5/nite to stay at the Venetian vs. Palazzo.  The location of each and the room layouts are nearly identical, with the Palazzo being slightly newer and perhaps the common areas just slightly more upscale (from the standpoint that it's newer).  You can't really go wrong with either, imo, but the Palazzo to me feels a bit more 'open, airy, and less crowded' than the Venetian... although i wouldn't have any issue staying in either (and have stayed at both multiple times)

Have you been to Vegas before?  The SLS is not really where you want to be as although technically s on the northern end of the strip, it's not what is generally considered to be "the strip" (which by most standards currently ends at Wynn/Encore)

Other than what is believed to be the SL the 4* strip options start at about $100+ per nite and the Venetian/Palazzo would be worth the extra $30/nite, imo:
1) you're in Vegas and everything is 'over the top'... your hotel might as well be too!

2) where else are you going to be able to stay at a 'true' 5 star hotel for $130/nite... experience it and take advantage when you can
