Hotwire has a a 4.5 star hotel in paradise island listed at $266/night CAD (Amenities Business centre CasinoFitness centerPool(s) ResortRestaurant(s) Self-service laundry Smoke-free rooms) I clicked through to book so that I could see any extra fees and the total before I decide whether I want this deal or not and I get the following Totals: CAD265.73 per night x 7 nights x 1 room CAD1,860.14 Tax recovery charges + fees CAD535.28 Hotwire total due today (CAD) CAD2,395.42 Resort fee due at hotel This hotel charges a resort fee which you pay at the hotel directly. It isn't included in your Hotwire total. CAD1,913.28 Has anyone ever seen a resort fee so HIGH! What is going on here? Was expecting Atlantis so I thought a resort fee would show up but it would be this amount. This is insane. Any ideas why and what hotel is this? Link to comment
julisa
Looking for help booking a hotel in Paradise Island Nassau and hoping for the Cove at Atlantis for August 14 to 21st. We are travelling with 2 kids but both options have bed choice available. I have 2 Express Deals on Priceline but not sure what they are: Option 1: 5-Star Hotel and Casino Nassau - Paradise Island Area This deal saves you 38% or more compared to similar hotels C$236/night Business Center Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities I assume this is the resort fee: C$561.62*This fee is collected at the hotel (USD 450.45) Option 2: 5-Star Hotel and Casino Nassau - Paradise Island Area This deal saves you 38% or more compared to similar hotels C$333/night Business Center Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities C$645.40*This fee is collected at the hotel (USD 517.65) Other than the resort fee and the price they are identical. thereuare
Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the upper right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion. Also, please post to the board in USD as it helps keep all prices on the board consistent and not subject to interpretation based upon future fluctuations (as well as making it easier for us to locate the same hotels among the offers when we replicate your search) I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you search using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool. (always use this method for your searches/purchases to ensure you're seeing the complete amenity set and for an easy comparison of PRICELINE vs. HOTWIRE, as well as to use our new IS THIS A GOOD PRICE feature). If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (including any accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? Using this method, below is the full list of amenities i'm seeing for the 4.5 star hotel in this zone when searching for your dates: For this HOTWIRE offer: 4.5* Paradise Island area Hotel $210/nite Free Internet Resort Casino Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Golf Tennis Kitchenette Spa Childrens Activities ==> best guess would be The Reef at Atlantis, Autograph Collection If you use the method indicated above after you click on the hotel offer you'll see this on the next page that it lists the $54/nite resort fee per person (i'm guessing it may be per room but HOTWIRE is not showing it that way). On the positive side HOTWIRE only shows the resort and does not collect it, so you will be charged for this part by the hotel and it will be whatever it supposed to be... on the downside should the resort fee now be per person you'd be on the hook for it. For the PRICELINE EXPRESS offers (confirm your dates on the landing pages after clicking the links provided below): 5* Nassau - Paradise Island for $190 Business Center Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> best guess would be The Reef Atlantis, Autograph Collection 5* Nassau - Paradise Island Area for $268/nite Business Center Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> The Cove Atlantis, Autograph Collection would be my guess for this one Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes. PS- please also conclude your previous Fort Lauderdale Priceline hotel thread with whatever you ultimately decide to do for that trip. Please remember to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you make them (even if you don't ultimately use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc) as this help keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone... as well as being a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your travel plans. Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
julisa
Thank you for the information and for pointing out the Hotwire Easy View Tab and green button. I am still confused about the resort fee that shows up on Hotwire though. Are you saying this is a glitch in the hotwire system or is there really a $1512.00 resort fee due if I book that option? Have you ever seen that high amount for a resort fee? I know Atlantis has a reputation for being expensive but I doubt thats correct. Link to comment
AaronJB
HOTWIRE shows on the detail page that there is a $54/night resort fee per person that is collected at the hotel. That seems unusually high and it *might* actually be $54 resort fee per room per night. However, if it is actually $54 per person per night extra for the resort fee (and looking around online, I'm not seeing a definitive answer on resort fee specifics for this property), then you are going to have to pay that very sizable resort fee. So yes, there is the possibility that there is a $1,512.00 resort fee that would have to be paid at the hotel. Please let us know what you decide or if we can be of any further assistance. julisa
Thank you for explaining further. I wouldn't want to take that chance so HOTWIRE is out this time. As for the priceline options, they look so similar and the Reef was listed as 4.5 not a 5 can you explain why you think this one is the Reef? Could any of them be the new Hyatt Grand Baha Marr which is a new 5 star in the area? Link to comment
thereuare
If you click this The Reef Atlantis, Autograph Collection link you'll see that this property is current 5 star rated by PRICELINE... maybe you were looking at HOTWIRE where The Reef is 4.5* rated? julisa
Hubby's a bit worried about bidding on priceline because we are 4 people not 2. We usually use priceline when travelling just us two and hotwire for the family but with this crazy resort fee I am leaning more towards the priceline offer and would be very happy with The Reef since it includes a kitchenette. The express offer includes bed selection so we would be ok for 4 but if it is Atlantis do you forsee any issues or limitations because we booked through the express deal? Link to comment
thereuare
While all PRICELINE reservations are for double occupancy and after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, i do not know of anyone who has yet had an issue showing up with triple/quad occupancy when a specific room type is booked and the room type selected is designed to accommodate the number of adults/children in the group (although i wouldn't try this at an all-inclusive property given how extra guests at such properties usually do cost extra). Only concern that i would have at the Atlantis is that it is a 'wristband' property where you need a wristband to enter the water park, and if the hotel could give you a hard time about 3rd/4th wristbands when the room is booked for double occupancy... although i do see that the Atlantis does charge the same rate when searching for 2adults/0children vs. 2adults/2children. One more thing in your favor is that (when you click the link above to the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer) it states this for the hotel guessed to be The Reef: Quote Kids Stay Free ALL children under 12 years stay free of charge when using existing beds Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. julisa
What would be your best guess for this 4star hotel on hotwire for august 14-21 on paradise island Paradise Island 4 star Amenities Include: Casino, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Internet access, Golf nearby, Tennis nearby, Kitchenette, Spa services, Children's activities Link to comment
thereuare
Please include the room rate per nite in your posts as it makes it much easier for us to locate the same property among the offers when we replicate your search (especially if there is more than one hotel of the same star rating in the zone). For this hotel: 4* HOTWIRE Paradise Island for $94.00 Casino Fitness Pool Restaurant Hi-Speed Internet Golf Tennis Kitchenette Spa Childrens Activities ==> although i'm not 100% certain, my guess for this one would be the Harborside Resort at Atlantis (although when i clicked thru on the offer i got a message that it was no longer available... are you still seeing this one and able to click thru to the booking page??) julisa
update just to close this thread. checked with priceline and they only guarantee for occupancy for 2 so if I book through them they said I might get stuck paying extra or having to get another room when i get there . Checked with hotwire and the resort fee is correct so I would get stuck paying double the amount of the room for the resort fee which i think is insane. I went on the atlantis website and it states on the terms that the cove and the reef have a $50/person/night fee that they charge so I will be look elsewhere. Link to comment
