buffalorob
Was looking to book Pittsburgh Southside for 12/14-15/17. Could see on PRICELINE that the rate for the Holiday Inn Express Southside was $67. There was also a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal offered for $64 that was probably the same property. I tried a bid of $55, which was countered with a "increase your bid with no changes for $13 more, to $68" offer. The $67 rate mentioned above included free breakfast, so I just took that. Pity the bidding just doesn't seem to work like it used to anymore at Priceline. It's still an all right deal, and I'm fine with it though. Link to comment
AaronJB
With bidding, if you get a counter-offer, the price it takes to accept is somewhere in-between the last rejected bid and the counter-offer. It could possibly have been in the upper $50's. There are still plenty of fantastic deals on PRICELINE, but there is a floor for prices. With a Holiday Inn Express regular rate at $67, the discount is probably not going to be that substantial at this point, given that rates are already low. Still, a discount is a discount and can go towards a nice dinner. All guests at Holiday Inn Express get breakfast, so you would get that via PRICELINE as well. If you can cancel your booking without penalty and want to try again, please let us know. If you do book regular rate via PRICELINE, please use the site's PRICELINE link to start your purchases and searches. On HOTWIRE, there's also: 4* Downtown Pittsburgh for $83.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Indoor Pool Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Golf Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking ==> If you have any interest in staying downtown, best guess would be the Westin. $83 - $15 promotion in my signature --- $68, so for about the same price, a more upscale property (although no breakfast.) Regular rate the Westin is $199, so $68 would certainly be a pretty terrific deal. Let us know your thoughts and if you want to/are able to rebook. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
