Hi, I need help narrowing down/figuring out what is worth bidding on.

I am traveling to NYC 12/01-12/04. It's 2 adults (may just be 1) and 1 toddler. We are going for some sight seeing and a couple of shows. Our other family members are staying at the Club Quarters--Wall St. I was hoping to stay near by since I'm not totally convinced I want to stay at the same place but it's been so long since I've visited NYC and my fist time doing so with a child so I'm not sure where we should stay. I'd like to find something 4* maybe 3.5* just want to make sure we have our own bathroom, don't mind sharing a bed and are in a safe/clean location. Total budget for our stay would ideally be between $500-700ish.

What is the actual age of your child?  When will you know for certain if you will be 1or2 adults as, depending upon the age of the toddler, it may effect which service we suggest you use.

For the average visitor staying 'downtown' is not really that centrally located, so what is more important to you... being near other family members OR having a better location?

Unfortunately this is seasonally one of the most expensive weekends of the year, and your budget is not likely to go as far as you think it will, but i'll give you an overview of your options/issues...

Most NYC hotel rooms have a high percentage of rooms with only one bed, and often a room with two beds (or anything over double occupancy) is considered an upgrade and cost more than 'standard'.

All PRICELINE reservations are for double occupancy, but some PRICELINE EXPRESS deals do offer a 'Bed Choice' which may show an option that can accommodate triple occupancy (whether it be 2beds, 1Bed + sofabed, etc).  While technically your reservation is still only for double occupancy, i don't know of anyone who has yet had an issue showing up with triple/quad occupancy when a specific room type was purchased that is designed to accommodate the number of guest in the group.

HOTWIRE on the otherhand will allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and guarantees sleeping accommodations for everyone that is included in your search.  As well, HOTWIRE (just like PRICELINE EXPRESS) will sometimes show a 'Bed Choice' where you can choose the room type.  If you only search for double occupancy and are able to pick a room that offers accommodations for 3 people, same 'caveats' apply as per PRICELINE EXPRESS above.  If you search for 2adults/1child and choose a room that can accommodate 3 people, then obviously no issue.

So to give you an idea of pricing given some of the scenarios above:

Searching 2adults/0children

4* HOTWIRE World Trade Center - Wall Street
Free Internet
Smoke Free
Fitness
Restaurant
Business
Laundry
Hi-Speed Internet
Wheelchair Accessible
==> my guess for this one would be the DoubleTree by Hilton New York City - Financial District and offers a room with 2double beds for $205/nite

4* HOTWIRE Lower East Side - East Village
Free Internet
Smoke Free
Fitness
Restaurant
Business
Hi-Speed Internet
==> best guess for this one would be the Holiday Inn NYC - Lower East Side where a 2 double bed room can be had for $226/nite

As you can see we haven't even made it to midtown yet and you're already starting to exceed your budget.

Searching for 2adults/1child:

.4* HOTWIRE World Trade Center - Wall Street for $206.00
Free Internet
Boutique
Smoke Free
Fitness
Restaurant
Business
Hi-Speed Internet
==> Holiday Inn Manhattan-Financial District (no bed type shown but guaranteed to accommodate 2adults/1child if you choose the "let hotel choose room" option

4* HOTWIRE World Trade Center - Wall Street for $215.00
Free Internet
Boutique
Smoke Free
Fitness
Restaurant
Business
Laundry
Hi-Speed Internet
==> best guess here would be the Club Quarters Hotel, World Trade Center

... to start to get further north you're starting to get into the $250 before fees/taxes
