2 adults/3 kids - help please!

We are 2 adults and 3 children (ages 7 and 5 and the youngest is 2 so sleeps in a crib, or they could even share a large bed), and usually stay in a suite type hotel (eg Embassy Suites) or just a regular hotel room, with a crib.

I am worried about booking a suite on hotwire in case we get there and they refuse to let the 5 of us sleep in a room (occasionally hotels have "fire rule maximum occupancy" issues, though not usually). Anyone know the general rule for 5 in a hotel room? Do all suites allow 5 or is this not the case? Does this vary by state or by chain - we are looking at central Boston early August (either July 31 - August 4 or August 5 - August 9). For example, Embassy Suites will accept all of us in a room (though I can't find this hotel on Hotwire) but Doubletree Bayside have a maximum of 4 (sorry bad example as this isn't a suite).

I could try booking two rooms on priceline or hotwire but this would only be suitable if we could get adjoining rooms - obviously there's no way we could manage with two rooms apart from each other. Can you request adjoining rooms after you've booked?

I figured that Priceline & Hotwire are not suitable for our needs, but before giving up I just thought I'd ask!

Thanks for any help/tips!
