arobindel11
Hi, I'm pretty good at bidding usually and I've never posted to this site but figured you guys are the pros as I am not having any luck. Booked a last minute family vacation to puerto rico for 12/25-12/29 and looking to stay at a 4 star hotel and up. I see hotwire has some stuff, ideally I would want to be in rio grande area as my boys like to play golf and those are the hotels with golf, but I would also do condado. I saw the Gran melia had really bad reviews, I would do the wyndham, preferabbly las casitas or el conquistador, but know those are more money. I have sort of hacked PRICELINE before by adding areas that don't have the stars I want when upping the price but this time it isn't working. I need 2 rooms, and looking to spend around 200 a room a night. I see there are rooms avail on PRICELINE EXPRESS, ideally i would want 5 star but can't seem to figure out how to swing that with my price range. this is a great site and i will post some other winning bids ive had (i've never used your site before, i've just done outside research on my own) in order to help out others! AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding! Thank you for sharing the details of other wins as separate threads - the information is greatly appreciated. For this stay, how many adults/children are going to be in each room? If more than two, PRICELINE bidding doesn't guarantee more than 1 bed/double occupancy. With HOTWIRE, you can search for more than two people and occasionally, listings offer bed choice options. PRICELINE EXPRESS listings also more frequently have bed choice as an option. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. thereuare
To add to the above, it seems as if there are certain hotels you're hoping to target and/or avoid, which you won't be able to do when bidding on PRICELINE... PRICELINE EXPRESS and/or HOTWIRE would be a better option for you, imo, however at current rates i'm doubtful that 4.5* or 5* is within your target budget. To get started/move forward, let's start with the occupancy issue alluded to above... how many adults/children do you need accommodations for? Are your children under 18 or are they adult age? Assuming you're looking for more than double occupancy are you willing to take the risk of booking for two but showing up with four guests? arobindel11
Will do, I am willing to risk booking for two and showing up with four guests.. don't have a problem with that I will definitely return with what I get, but do you think there is any way to get PRICELINE's algorithm to award me a hotel for cheaper? it used to work to add other zones without the hotel star I wanted but it isn't working anymore.. thereuare
Re-bidding (Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) still works... what is the issue you're having? Why are you not able to place another bid after your first bid is rejected? arobindel11
Also posted in priceline bidding, didn't make a decision yet, think I might do this hotel 4-star Resort in San Juan area Just want to make sure it is the caribe hilton for 25-29th, 2 rooms Complimentary Free Internet Amenities Beachfront hotelFitness centerPool(s)ResortRestaurant(s)Self-service laundrySmoke-free rooms 167 a night Tripadvisor 4/5 90% recommended It seems odd that it's the caribe hilton, but i did have a corporate rate to get it for 275 a night so it's not that that crazy, and i physically don't see another hotel it can be given the location and description (beachfront hotel), but just want to double check Link to comment
thereuare
Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the upper right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion. For the offer above I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you search using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool. (use this method for all your searches/purchases) If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (including any accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? Using this method, below is the full list of amenities i'm seeing for the 4 star hotel in this zone when searching for your dates: 4* San Juan for $167.00 Free Internet Resort Beachfront Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Golf Tennis Spa Childrens Activities Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ==>the Caribe Hilton or the Sheraton Old San Juan would be my guess here (although it could be argued whether the Sheraton is actually Beachfront or not (Oceanfront probably a bit better description)... but if you did receive the Sheraton and had issue with this, with your check-in date tomorrow you don't really have any time to argue the point with HOTWIRE) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know whatever you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help.
