Priceline Hotel: Bidding help for Miami, FL

I'm wanting to bid on a hotel in Miami for Dec 2, 2016 one night, 1 room, 2 people. I would prefer DT Brickle area, but would take South Beach or Coral Gables, plus open to suggestions. Would like to stay under $200 - realizing that it may be a pipe dream. Any help in bidding strategy is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Please provide a follow-up for your prior San Juan Hotwire thread (post what you decided for that stay within that thread, then reply to this thread and we would be happy to take a look and research the above stay.) Closing threads is greatly appreciated as it helps others researching their stay and keeps the board organized.

For this stay, what would be your desired star rating and which zones (by PRICELINE name) would be acceptable?

When PRICELINE / HOTWIRE don't work for your needs for a given trip, it would be appreciated if you booked your regular rate purchases thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com.

For the Miami trip above... are you willing to pay more to stay in the Brickell vs. any of your other acceptable zones OR is the goal the least expensive acceptable star rated hotel for this nite?  Is anywhere within the 'Downtown' zone acceptable or only the southern/brickell part of the zone?  What is your desired star rating?  Are you wiling to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is the goal the least expensive that meets your minimum star rating threshold?

Let us know the information above and we'll take it from there.

  • The goal is the least expensive acceptable star rated hotel for Dec 2.
  • Prefer the southern/brickell part of the zone.
  • Desired star rating is 3* or higher
  • If I can't get in my price range, then my backup plan is to book a hotel in the airport region using hotwire or the express pricing to hopefully have better control over which hotel I will get

thank you!

When bidding on PRICELINE there will be no way to only target hotels in this part of the zone... you will need to be able to accept a hotel anywhere within the zone that is defined by PRICELINE's boundaries.

All hotels in the Downtown zone are over your budget except for the following (confirm your date on the landing page of the provided link):

3.5* Downtown Miami for $160
Pets Allowed
Business Center
Restaurant
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

==> my best guess for this offer would be the Hotel Urbano

Does this property work for your needs?

Thanks for researching that hotel. I'm not sure that I would be interested in the Urbano as it is getting mixed reviews right now. Also, Urbano is $143 on tripadvisor. I guess I shouldn't go with a 3.5* if I bid (or 3* because they can upgrade, right?).  I was just hoping to get a deal by bidding - if that is not possible, then will go other routes.
