I am not set on one particular location in San Diego. Would like to be near a trolley stop and restaurants if possible to avoid driving too much.

Mission Valley, Mission Bay or Downtown locations would all work equally well.

It will be just myself and my husband looking to spend time seeing the main sites (cycling/walking along beach/bay, visiting old town, visiting Gaslamp Quarter,  maybe using gym pool in hotel, seaport village,etc.)

Am conscious of resort fees and parking fees so need to add that into the equation for total cost.

Do not have a set budget just trying to keep total down as low as possible for a good solid 4* hotel in a convenient location.

==> not certain, the Westin San Diego or the Westgate Hotel would be a guess, but i have reason to question each of these and wouldn't be surprised if something different

 

4* Gaslamp Quarter - Convention Center $90   90% recommended

==> a new amenity set for the Hilton San Diego Bayfront would be my best guess here

Booked the  4* Gaslamp Quarter - Convention Center for $90 and it was the Hilton Bayfront. 

This was for a king room, for two doubles or for the hotel to select your room cost was only $84
