Priceline Hotel: 3.5* New York City (Central Park South) Ameritania Hotel

So I have had great success with the assistance that you all offer, however NYC I can't seem to wrap my mind around.  We are looking to visit for a day and ideally would like to be in a prime location like Midtown East area, but are open to any area in that vicinity: Time Square, Grand Central, Central Park South, Rockefeller Center, etc..., and beyond depending on the price. We are traveling by bus into NYC so we don't want to have to travel too far from 34th, if possible.

What I have been finding is that the going rate is about $190-210 after taxes and fees for a 4* and above. I found a 3.5* for $135 ($171 total) in Central Park South with Fitness and Business Centers as the amenities and a 8/10 guest score.

Do you believe that the 3.5* is probably my best bet for this time of year or would it be worth it to bid? Most of the bids that I have seen won were due to Express Deals so I am unsure what I could bid if bidding is an option.

To wrap it up, I am looking for my best options for a 3.5* or above that will keep me less than $200 total in Midtown.

Thanks!

Best guess for this 3.5* Central Park South hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $135/nite with:

Fitness Center
Business Center
==> Ameritania Hotel

You may get a better price bidding for a hotel in this zone but then you need to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you bid.  Since this property has such good reviews, i don't think i would risk receiving a 'lesser' 3.5* by bidding in order to save a few extra dollars (i'd rather pay a little more and 'know' that i'm getting one of the better 3.5* properties).  Also, if you were to bid, you could potentially be upgraded to the 4* Hudson Hotel which is in this zone, and although well located, has notoriously small rooms.

If you're looking for a 4* option i'm seeing what looks like The Marcel At Gramercy Park for $148/nite... but i think the location of the Ameritania is better.
