Bos Logan Car Bid

With many Boston residents not owning cars, and looking to get away for the long holiday weekend, i suspect that rates are high for this rental period.

Using the CARS radio button of our BiddingHelper.com tool, what is the best rate you're able to find (per day before fees/taxes) for a rental during this timeframe?

Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

PS- please remember to conclude your Priceline Plymouth hotel thread with whatever you ultimately decided to do for that trip (even if your decision is to keep your back-up reservation)

So with demand high, available inventory low, and the best available rate at $43... why would a rental company want to sell a rental at less than half the prevailing rate.

If you go to the 'Priceline Retail' of the CARS section of BiddingHelper.com, you can enter a $35 at the top of the rental box and on the next page see the total.  You can then hit the BACK button on your browser and adjust the bid price up/down to determine how high you can go in order to beat your current back-up reservation.

Looks to be it's about a $43 bid (assuming your rental is for 5 calendar days and your pick-up/drop-off times don't put you into a sixth rental day).

So if you confirm the number is $43, it becomes a question of how much savings you would need in order to make an 'opaque' rental (where you don't choose the rental company and the reservation is non-refundable) worthwhile.  For some they need at least 'x' percent savings... for others if they can save $1 total they would take the cheaper opaque purchase.

ok will do. It does come out to 6 days for bidding whereas going directly through a car company I can do 5 days and a few hours. If I don't change car class but just up the bid amount is that allowed or is it only 1 bid every 24 hours. The negotiation on hold page doesn't give any information on what to do next other than to just take their regular priced offer.

Changing the Car Class does count as a change that will let you bid again immediately.
