TravelPhotographer
Bidding first time in couple years last night, unsuccessful Sarasota 2/8-2/10 & StPete 2/12-2/14 all zones 4* $95 & 3* $65, noticed resort-hotel fees now show BEFORE bidding!!! Is that system-wide or spotty? And if only 4* in a zone has hotel fee, will that fee display when bidding 3*?? No way to parse out fee properties within zone? Are there updated bidding strategies? Will bid Tampa-Orlando today using betterbidding.com PRICELINE link: any zone 2/8-2/10 & 2/12-2/14 4* up to $80 or 3* up to $60 with no or including hotel fee. Thanks in advance!!!!!!! thereuare
The resort fee that shows on the bidding page of PRICELINE is a 'worst case scenario' in the sense that if any hotel in the zone at that star level has a resort fee, then it will show when bidding. If the hotel you ultimately receive does not charge a resort fee then there would be nothing additional to pay directly to the hotel (or if the hotel you win has a resort feel less than was indicated on the bidding page you would pay the hotel the lesser amount). This is relatively reliable but not yet 100% as there may be hotels that have not yet been updates OR the resort fee is new (or has recently changed) and not yet reflected in PRICELINE's system. Regardless, since this information is relative to all hotels of that star rating in the zone, and not a specific hotel that you would be bidding on, you can't use this information to guess as to what hotel it is that you may receive. Please use separate threads for your 2/8-2/10 and your 2/12-2/14 trips (we will use this one for 2/8-2/10, feel free to start a NEW TOPIC for your second trip) For 2/8-2/10, given the information above, let us know how you'd like to proceed (still try bidding or would you instead have a look at PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE) and we will advise accordingly. If you choose to bid, we do have a new test site in private beta that you can try (send me a PM for the link if you decide to go that route) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
