Julie_d
Hey everyone, The last few days I've been searching for a hotel in Vegas.I will be staying there from 5/16 -5/20. Found a nice deal on priceline for the downtown grand, pretty easy to ID since it is the only 3.5 * hotel in the downtown/fremont area. But I just saw a 3 * hotel East of the strip for $53.If I click on it the prices changes to $46. Amenities listed are : Business Center/Restaurant/Free internet/Indoor or outdoor pool/Casino/Fitness center. Bed choice : Room assigned at check in -Sleeps 2 adults - 2 beds requested Room assigned at check in -Sleeps 2 adults -1 bed requested. Guest score 8.0 out of 10 guest favorite. It's not clear if this hotel charges a resort fee, usually you see the total price that priceline charges and then a additional price listed as the resort fee wich will be charged by the hotel at the end of your stay. If there is no fee at all this hotel will be the same price as the downtown grand so I'm not sure what to do.The 3* hotels east of the strip don't have great reviews, except for the Hyatt,so I really don't know what I should do.Any help is welcome ;) Thanks in advance . thereuare
The Tuscany Suites and Casino would be my best guess for this one. Have you been to Las Vegas before? What is your maximum budget (before fees/taxes) for this trip? Will you have a car? Julie_d
No I've never been to Vegas before. But since I'm travelling alone and I will be travelling through the states for a few weeks I'm trying to keep the costs of accomodations low. I know the Downtown-fremont st. area isn't that close to the strip, but the downtown grand has great reviews, and some of the hotels like Circus Circus,Stratosphere,Westgate etc.are more central and closer to the strip, but lots of negative reviews. So I'm confused :) I would say USD 40 is my absolute max budget ( before fees etc) I'm realistic so I know this won't get me a great hotel near the strip. Don't know if bidding would be a good idea? Link to comment
thereuare
If you can stretch your budget i would suggest this 3.5* Strip North hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $43/nite with Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Business Center, Casino, Fitness Center... best guess for this one would be The Linq which recently when thru a complete makeover (which is why you may see recent reviews much better than older reviews) and more importantly has a great location on the strip. Your other option would be this 3.5* Strip South hotel (again, confirm dates on the landing page) for $45/nite, as this is a Vegas classic, but with the 'classic' comes older, smokier, and things not as bright and airy as the new Linq. Unless you have reason to stay Downtown, staying directly in the main part of the strip is recommended for a first time visitor. Julie_d
Thanks for all the advice.I wish I could spend more but I really have to stay within my budget. I'm thinking about booking the stratosphere, with the priceline express deal that would be $31.I know the stratosphere is more off the strip, but I saw there is a monorail about 10 min from the hotel.I'll let you know what I do.Thanks again. thereuare
It's your trip and your money... but the extra $3-5 per nite would be worth it to stay in the heart of the strip. I'm not sure if it has improved much over the years (it's possible, but i haven't heard anything indicative that it has), but yo don't really want to be walking around the area of the Stratosphere at nite. As well, the monorail isn't that inexpensive... a 4 day pass will run you about $9/day. I would sooner buy a one day pass and go Downtown to go downtown (and anywhere else along the monorail line that you want to visit) on that one 24 hour period, and use the monorail pass savings to increase your budget $3-$5/day in order to stay directly on the main part of the strip. That's my 2 cents (available for free). Julie_d
I ended up booking through HOTWIRE.3 *hotel south of The strip for $36 per night,I was pretty sure it was The Excalibur, and I was right.Reviews on tripadvisor are ok and more importantly it's in a save area. After your advice I found more negative comments online about the stratosphere area, especially at night so not a good idea. Amenities listed for The Excalibur: Free Internet/Free parking Casino Fitness Business Center Golf nearby Pool Restaurant Thanks again for all the help:) Link to comment
thereuare
Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your results with the board. This is a much better option than staying Downtown or Off-Strip, imo, i'm glad to see you decided to stay on-strip. I believe there may have been more amenities than you listed in your post, which would not have been seen unless you searched using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool. Can you please add a reply to this thread confirming the full list of amenities associated with this property (including any accessible amenities)... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.
