123slb Posted January 25, 2016 Report Share Posted January 25, 2016 Saw what appeared to be this property as a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal for $61 a night with these amenities: Free breakfast, free internet, business center, swimming pool, fitness center, and a guest rating of 8+. Looked over all other 3 stars in that area and decided to risk Name Your Own Price to win it cheaper, bidding $50 (fail) and $55 (win). I knew there was an extra charge per night for parking because I guessed the property and read the full Priceline description for it. Visited the hotel website and learned there is a free shuttle service within 3 miles and that was a BIG plus since snow was predicted and I don't know the first thing about driving in snow! Only booked one night in case it wasn't great because it sits right next to the train tracks. Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Pittsburgh South Side 3 out of 5 star Hotel 20 South Tenth Street, Pittsburgh , PA Check-in: Tue, Jan 19, 2016 - After 03:00 PM Check-out: Wed, Jan 20, 2016 - 12:00 PM Offer price: $55.00/night Number of rooms:1 room Number of nights:1 night Room subtotal: $55.00 And then at check in...The front desk treated me like royalty despite the 3rd party booking and I received a huge room with two queen beds, sitting area, view of the river, fridge, microwave and Keurig. The bath had soft, fluffy towels and Bath & Body Works toiletries. OMG! Immediately bid again for the rest of my Pittsburgh stay (see separate priceline win) and the front desk was kind enough to link the two reservations without my needing to check out and in again. The shuttle drivers took me everywhere I needed to go: CMU, restaurants on Carson St., the Conservatory, the Mon Incline, etc. I parked my darn rental car ($14 a night) and never gave the snow another thought, except to admire the beauty!
