mtheeb
Hi there, I am getting ready to book a trip from BOI to MEM August 7th - August 17th (two tickets). I'm getting a Hotwire Hotfare $380.00 that is about 40/per ticket less. Than the cheapest retail fare. I'm pretty certain since there are only 0-1 stops that it will be the flight that leaves at 6:00pm and arrives at 12:30AM (next day), I can't see any other schedule that gets in "next day". Here is my question, I've never had success with NYOP on flights (especially this far out) - but since Hotwire has a HOTFARE available, does that better my chance I could Name My Own Price on Priceline cheaper than the HOTFARE? If yes, where should I start bidding? Thanks Mike Link to comment
thereuare
We don't see too many PRICELINE wins for airfare, and even fewer from HOTWIRE, so it's difficult to make a comparison between the two. However, why not simply try bidding on PRICELINE up to (or near) the HOTWIRE fare price, and if unsuccessful, take the HOTWIRE offer? (assuming your guessed flight times are acceptable) When bidding on airfare you have an almost unlimited number of re-bid opportunities (see Priceline Airfare Re-Bidding for information and feel free to ask any questions you may have)... i would start at ~$250/nite, increasing by $10-$25 per re-bid, more at the lower bid amounts (when your chances of success are low) and less of a bid increment at the higher bid amounts (when the chances of success increase) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes or how we can be of further help. mtheeb
Well just to add a little color this this. I NYOP on PRICELINE up to about 25.00 of the Hot.wire Hotrate Fare and then went ahead and purchased it through Hotwire. It turned out the be the exact flight I wanted and saved us 40.00 each flight. I used the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to do both as usual. Thank you so much for your help! Link to comment
thereuare
Glad to see you did well and are happy with the outcome. Can you add a reply here with your itinerary (airline, flight times, layovers, ticket price, etc)... we will then edit the topic title to reflect your win. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
