allstar13
Hi all! I recently learned that I need to travel this Friday to Grand Rapids for a work event. The Event Hotel is the Grand Rapids South Hyatt Place, which is listed as 3* on Priceline. The going rate for a Friday night stay is $190. There is a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal available for $152/night that I believe is the Hyatt Place or the Hampton Inn. I would prefer to stay at the Hyatt, but the other 3* is available. I submitted a failed bid for $120 tonight. The rebidder asked me to increase my bid to $166 to rebid immediately, or change my zones/stars. Since this area is all alike, I can't do that without possibly getting a different hotel/area. So, I guess I'm wondering what's going on? If there is a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal at $152 why did they want me to rebid at $166? I was thinking about booking through a backup site tonight, and possibly retrying for $130 tomorrow. Is this still too low? Any help you can give would be appreciated! Thanks. Link to comment
yellowdog
Please note that the lock-out time for re-bidding is only 2 hours now. If there is a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal at $152 why did they want me to rebid at $166?The bidding side and PRICELINE EXPRESS use different inventories for hotels so there's no guarantee that you will hit something even of bidding $151. But don't pay attention to this. Just take it as an indicator that the bidding side has inventory for your stay. What is max budget/night before fax/fee's for this stay? Romelle
Definitely sneak up on that offer. Depending upon the amount of time you have for doing this, use smaller or larger increments. There is something available somewhere between your $120 and the $166 suggestion. Some people swear by mid-point plus $1, or $144. But success has been reported at only $1 or a few dollars over the last bid. If you've already tried the $130 and it didn't work, maybe increase by $5 every two hours. Or even switch to $3 increments after you get to $140. Good luck. Romelle Link to comment
thereuare
If this is the 3 star Grand Rapids South (confirm your dates on the landing page) hotel you're seeing with Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Pets Allowed, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Free Parking, Business Center, Fitness Center... i believe this one is Hyatt Place Grand Rapids-South if this influences your decision to just take the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal (vs. a lower price and potentially receiving a different 3* hotel in the zone) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
