Priceline Hotel: Las Vegas Strip, 2 nights, 3/30-4/4, family of 6

I'm hoping to book 2 nights during spring break.

My biggest question now is, using Priceline or Hotwire, will I need to book 2 rooms?

I'd prefer one large room or a suite. My wife and I would take one bed, 2 older kids in a second bed, a couch or roll-away for 3rd kid, and the youngest needs a crib.

Is there anyway to get this type of room or suite by bidding on Priceline or Hotwire?

From the limited research I've done so far, it looks like I need to book 2 rooms using the bidding strategy.

Any tips on getting the best deal for a family of 6?

Would we be better off going the traditional booking route?

We're flexible on the dates - any 2 nights during the weeks of 3/30-4/4.

We're looking for a kid-friendly hotel on the strip (The Mirage, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Trump, NYNY, Excaliber, etc)

It seems most of these are 4*+.

Price.line bidding only guarantees one bed/double occupancy. You would have to bid for two rooms and then try to negotiate with the hotel in terms of bedding and they may charge an upgrade fee.

PRICELINE EXPRESS does sometimes list "bed option", so if you clicked on the listing and the bed choice you were looking for was one of the options, that would be an optimal choice.

Or, finally, if you were to search for two rooms on Hot.wire with three people in each room, you should be able to get bedding (may be two beds, may be 1 + rollaway, etc) for the party.

You wouldn't be able to find a option for 6 in one room via Hot.wire or Price.line.

What would be your desired max bid per room/per night?

Searching HOTWIRE for 2rooms/2adults/4children i see a 4* hotel in the Strip South zone for $37/nite with:

Free Parking

Free Internet

Resort

Casino

Fitness

Pool

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

Golf

Spa

Deaf Accessible

Travel Accessible

Room Accessible

Wheelchair Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Handicapped Parking

Roll-in Shower

... best guess would be the Tropicana, which while not my favorite hotel, it does put you across the street from kid friendly Excalibur (as kid friendly as it gets... i don't necessarily think that Vegas is the kid friendly place they tried to turn it into 8-10 years ago), the MGM Grand, and near the Luxor which is worth a visit with kids. Also, while the Trop wouldn't be my first choice, it does offer the benefit (for you) of being a non-themed hotel which may make it a little more isolated from the 'debauchery' (for lack of a better word) that makes Vegas 'Vegas'.
