4.5* Downtown-MP-GP

--- Likely Swiss

4.5* Downtown-MP-GP

--- Likely Blackstone Renaissance. In my opinion, too far South.

4* Mag Mile

--- Likely Sheraton

4* Mag Mile

--- Likely Godfrey

I'll also note there's a 3.5* in the Mag Mile-RN area for $65 w/Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business. That would likely be the Doubletree, which is a fine hotel and literally about a block and a half North of the Sheraton. The Sheraton's okay, it's just a very convention-oriented property and the Doubletree is a fine alternative up the block if comparing the two. The Godfrey's in a great location in River North (there's a very nice Whole Foods two blocks East and lots of restaurants nearby), while the Swiss is in a great location by the river.

Also, Amtrak comes into Union Station. A few blocks North of most of the exits to Union Station (there are several) is Ogilvie Transportation Center. Under the departure area is the Chicago French Market (http://www.frenchmarketchicago.com/hours/), which is a real gem - it's a great spot to get a bite to eat from one of the many vendors or it would be a great place to get some things to take on the Amtrak with you on the ride back.

Definitely a nice time to come to Chicago, given that the weather is (well, at least usually around the end of March) comfortable and there's not a ton of tourist traffic so shouldn't be that many people at various attractions.

Thanks for the recommendation, went for the 3.5* (Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Internet Access) and got the Doubletree.

Looking forward to visiting Chicago and great info on the French Market.  Will definitely pick something up for the trip back.

Any advice on restaurants/food in the area.. going w/ teenager?  ( Food you only get in Chicago !)

Thanks again!

If you are looking for deep dish pizza, I'd recommend Lou Malnati's or perhaps Giordano's. I am not a huge fan of deep dish - not that it's bad, mind you, but it's like eating a cheese brick. It's heavy. I prefer really good thin crust, like at La Madia (http://www.yelp.com/biz/osteria-la-madia-chicago) in River North.

You have a few good breakfast options nearby, including Yolk (http://www.yelp.com/biz/yolk-chicago-8) and Wildberry (http://www.yelp.com/biz/wildberry-pancakes-and-cafe-chicago-2). If you don't mind a little further walk, Xoco (http://www.yelp.com/biz/xoco-chicago) is a newer breakfast/lunch/dinner casual option from famed Fronterra Grill chef Rick Bayless.

The Capital One Cafe (http://www.yelp.com/biz/capital-one-360-caf%C3%A9-chicago-2) just off Michigan Ave is actually a great Starbucks alternative, with a bright, open feel and cheap coffee/tea/snacks. It's actually run by the financial company, but they don't try to sell products unless you ask. A couple of blocks away is Hendrickx Belgian Bread Crafter (http://www.yelp.com/biz/hendrickx-belgian-bread-crafter-chicago), which is a tiny little cafe with some great options.

Let me know more about specific likes/dislikes and what you are looking for in terms of restaurants and I'd be happy to offer more recommendations.

Aaron, Thanks for the info.  We will definitely try out Wildberry for breakfast and  Capital one sounds great for some coffee (interesting concept..bank/coffee).

We like most food (mostly casual places), ethnic food, Mexican, Asian, etc..

Also I'd like to do an architecture tour if you know of any good ones (walking, boat, or bus). So much food, things to do... so little time  : - )
