Priceline Hotel: Raleigh, NC, 12/26-12/28

I want to book a 3 1/2 star in Raleigh, NC, 12/26-12/28.  I've read the pros and cons of booking early v. book right before trip. Does anyone think my specific dates--which I assume would be low occupancy--may lend support to booking late?

Your dates look pretty quiet, although there is a point where one has to consider a likely "floor" to prices - they're already low as is,  going much (or even mildly) lower within only a couple of weeks is unlikely.

Are you looking to stay in the Raleigh zone specifically... or one of the nearby zones such as Research Triangle Park, Airport, etc?

What are you expecting to pay per nite for this trip? It's a misconception that hotels necessarily drop their rates a day or two before arrival in hopes of filling rooms at any price, as there is a 'floor' as AaronJB referred to where it can be more beneficial to leave the room vacant. As well, very close to arrival the hotel can not increase demand that much by lowering prices (since most travelers to the area already have their reservations) and would rather leave rates high for the last minute walk-in customer who is not likely to get back in his car and drive down the road to compare prices of the next hotel if you doesn't like the rate of the one he is already standing in.
