Thank you for sharing your result with the board.

Also thanx for the addition for this new property to the BetterBidding Hotwire Hotel List

I believe there were likely more amenities then what you have posted above as HOT.WIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links.

For future searches/bookings you can do the following to ensure you're seeing the complete list:
1) use the EASY VIEW tab of our Bidding.Helper and click the green 'See All Amenities' button
OR
2) search HOT.WIRE (or use the HOT.WIRE tab at Bidding.Helper) and...

· click the offer
·  on the next page click the BOOK NOW link
·  in the TRIP SUMMARY box click the 'See more' link at the end of the amenities

Enjoy your stay.

Thanks, I was very happy that we got this particular hotel.

However, I was disappointed in the fact that the taxes and fees for a two-night's stay was $42, it seems high. I checked Expe.dia and although the room rate was about $60 a night higher, the taxes and fees were actually $2 less ($40 total).

This does not make sense to me because the tax rate should be a fixed percentage (12.5%) and the fees should be either a flat rate or a percentage. I called Hot.wire and they just gave me a canned "the taxes and fees are averaged out for hotels in the area, because we don't know which hotel you are going to get" response. This did not make sense to me either since they know which hotel it is before they charge the taxes and fees.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Each travel company can determine their own booking fees and HOTWIRE uses their own formula, just as PRICELINE, Expedia, and others use their own calculations.

The total fees are shown before your purchase so you can make the determination of whether the all-in price is a good deal for you or not. The 'opaque' providers may have a slightly higher booking fee than the more traditional booking agencies, but they also provide a different service than a 'regular' booking agency. As the rates offered by the opaque companies are usually deeply discounted and better then i'm able to get anywhere else, it's a service that i'm willing to pay a little extra for.

Sometimes it costs money to save money ;)
