pdxtoSEA
Looking to get a room in South Lake Union from 7/3-7/6. Any recent success stories in this zone.I know there are only 3 hotels in this zone - all 3*s.Hoping I can get a suggested bidding range. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! Unfortunately rates are high for these dates. Using our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com, what is the best rate you're able to find for an acceptable 3* hotel in this zone? So we don't suggest a strategy that goes higher than you're willing to pay, what is your maximum bid for this trip. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. pdxtoSEA
Looks like I will likely change dates to 7/1-7/3 or 7/1-7/4. Ideally like to keep price around $100/night. Link to comment
thereuare
Are your dates flexible and either date range above is acceptable OR are you still re-arranging plans and not yet sure which check-out date will work for your needs? Have you tried looking at MAPS and HOTELS.com for the new set of dates... what is the best rate on an acceptable 3* hotel in this zone? pdxtoSEA
Dates are somewhat flexible - the cheapest on Maps.Hotels is around $200. Link to comment
Romelle
Any recent success stories in this zone? The "CalendarofWins" up in the header shows all Price.line and Hot.wire reported successes by selected dates. Worth a check. On the other hand, your question just might inspire somebody to report that hasn't yet done so. ;) Romelle Link to comment
thereuare
At current rates of $200/nite thru conventional booking channels, i think this may be a difficult win at $100 or less. If you want to give it a try, you can try the following: When bidding 3* in Seattle you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 3* Lake Union South... Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $100 Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes or how we can be of further help. pdxtoSEA
Thanks - tried your strategy up to $115 and no luck. Maybe try again tomorrow Link to comment
AaronJB
Sorry to hear that your bids weren't accepted, but hopefully the next round of bidding will be successful. Thanks for keeping us updated. thereuare
I suspect you're still quite a ways off. I did a little digging and as you probably know, Lake Union has the areas biggest/most popular fireworks for the July 4th holiday. As such, hotels in the area are in high demand and can charge a premium. Many of these hotels likely feel they can sell-out on their own at full price, so there is little for reason for them to offer inventory to PRICELINE / HOTWIRE at a deep discount (and if demand is high enough they may not offer any inventory to the opaque suppliers at all) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. qiushui
Looks like I will likely change dates to 7/1-7/3 or 7/1-7/4. Ideally like to keep price around $100/night. As thereuare suggest, you'd better change dates to 7/1-7/3 or 3* near downtown, then you can make it around 101. Link to comment
pdxtoSEA
Wasn't able to make this 2014 trip work out - but I was successful for this similar search in 2013 for 7/2-7/4 for $84/night at Residence Inn Lake Union Link to comment

Please remember to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you make them (even if you don't ultimately use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc) as this help keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone... as well as being a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your travel plans.
