Priceline Hotel: 4* Minneapolis - St. Paul (Downtown Minneapolis) The Westin Minneapolis

I am planning a December football weekend in Minneapolis. I'll probably rent a car. In researching, the downtown hotels don't list parking as an amenity. What is it like parking in downtown Minneapolis? Should I be aiming towards downtown east? The game is on Sunday; I'd like to partake of the Friday/Saturday nightlife. I'm not sure that I'd really need a car anyway; there could snow on the ground then. Any suggestions and/or recommendations on doing Minneapolis would be appreciated.

All Minneapolis hotels downtown likely have parking, but it's going to cost - probably not as much as the outrageously expensive rates in Chicago, but still high. The Westin is showing $39, while Hilton is showing a $13 for self-parking/valet $23. I'd guess $40 is probably around the top end of what you can expect in regards to parking. You can look for a Hot.wire listing or Price.line Express listing w/free parking, but I think that may be difficult in downtown Minneapolis.

What are your date/s of travel and desired budget per night for this stay?

I'm trying to fit this trip into a really tight window. My flight would get in around 1am 12/5 and leave around 1am 12/8.

I'm thinking about getting something really minimal, when I get in and moving on to something nice Friday morning. Then I'd book until Monday; but actually check out Sunday night.

There doesn't seem to be much of a difference of rates, between Thursday and Friday. So I was also thinking about checking into something nice; when I get and checking out on Sunday morning. But this scenario would probably work better, if I had a car to kill the time before my flight.

I've seen express deals in the low $70's for the whole weekend. That's a good price, I'd like to beat or match.

My goal is to party Friday/Saturday, catch the game Sunday, and get on out of there.

Just trying to think out loud...

If you're into football it will be football season, so you could kill time on Sunday afternoon and/or evening at a local sports bar and watch the game(s), giving you something to do and not have a need to rent a car... or you could just rent the car for Sunday after you check-out of the hotel, avoiding any hotel parking charges and giving you storage for your bags in the trunk as well as mobility to explore outside of the city. In many cities 'local' rental companies are looking for a way to get rentals from the city to the airport, so you may be able to rent locally from a city location and drop-off at the airport without any extra one-way fees.

Let us know how you decide you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

Good news, bad news.

I got a downtown hotel at a good price. Unfortunately, it is the Westin; with it's $39 a day parking.

I had a $25 Bonus Cash; which broke down to $8.33 a day. Worked my way up from $44 and was accepted at $56 + Bonus Cash.

I'll wait until later, as my itinerary develops; before deciding on renting a car.
