ras67
I am looking for a hotel in Chicago from 7/5-7/8. Location ideally would be around Lake Shore Drive, Mag Mile, Gold Coast but i'm pretty flexible to anywhere around that general vicinity. 3.5 star would be ok if we had an idea that it was a nice one (aka Doubletree) ahead of time - Otherwise 4 star and up. Do you have suggestions on whether to use Priceline or Hotwire here? I was having a hard time identifying many of the Hotwire options and gave up since they all seemed so similar. Budget is up to around 175 a night but I think I can find one for much less. Thanks! Link to comment
AaronJB
Staying under $170 shouldn't be an issue - I'm seeing a potential match for the Allerton for $104, Intercontinental for $140, Felix for $111 and possible W Lakeshore for $142. I'm guessing a 4* in the River North-NMA area is likely going to run $80-95 for a bid on PRICELINE. Let us know if any of the above HOTWIRE options are of interest (the price you see may vary slightly.)Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. ras67
W Lakeshore is exactly where my friend wanted to target... Which one is that? Rack rate is 199 so even 142 is a nice little savings. I'll check again at the options around that price and scope out possible 4 star wins in that zone. Link to comment
thereuare
If you search HOTWIRE for 2adults/2children a 4* hotel is offered in the NMA-River North zone for $142/nite (your rate may differ by a few dollars) with:Pet Friendly Indoor Pool Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Spa ... this matches previous reports for the W Chicago Lakeshore and would be my best guess for this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. ras67
Out of curiousity, why do you get different results when you add in the "2 children" option? We dont have children so I wouldnt have ever thought to add that but I see a different list of hotels pop up once you make that change. Link to comment
AaronJB
Some hotels may be willing to offer up double occupancy rooms but not triple/quad occupancy rooms.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
ras67
Interesting... Thanks. As a follow up, for the time being we have decided to book through the hotel website in order to obtain a reservation that we can cancel. I will reopen if we decide to go another route closer to the travel date. ;) Link to comment
AaronJB
This tends to be a fairly slow period (at least usually) in comparison to other parts of the Summer, so I'd keep an eye on HOTWIRE listings/prices. Thank you for keeping us updated on what you decide.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
