dlublin
Hi Folks,I'm planning to go to NYC from August 21-24. I searched hotwire and found a number of hot prospects. I got the Le Parker Meridien before and would love if I could get it again at a similarly good price. Here is what I came up with as hotwire options. Any help in identifying them would be much appreciated.4.5* Midtown Central for $129. Amenities include restaurant, fitness center, business center, spa services. My guess is that this is the Essex House based on another post on this board.4.5* Upper East Side for $155. Amenities include restaurant, business center, fitness center.4.5* Times Square for $156. Amenities include restaurant, fitness center, high-speed internet access, business center, spa services.4* Midtown Central for $112. Amenities include restaurant, fitness center, high-speed internet access, business center4* Midtown East for $123. Amenities include restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center, tennis nearby. One suspects this might be the Millenium UN Plaza as I know they have a pool. Thanks for any help you can lend. I love this board and hope it is a hit!David Link to comment

Amenities include restaurant, fitness center, high-speed internet access, business center, spa services.Westin4* Midtown Central for $112. hanumansf
Le Parker Meridien is a 4.5* in the Midtown Central zone. It is a "customer favorite" so it's easier to identify. I love that hotel. The Stanhope is also a great property if you don't mind being on the UES.I would definately avoid the Millenium UN Plaza and the Sheraton. Link to comment
dlublin
Hello,I got the Essex House for $115 so I'm happy. I can't help but wonder if bidding after the blackout started helped me out and if I should've tried for lower. However, I'm happy enough at that price. This bid nicely shows the pros and cons of both priceline and hotwire. Hotwire was offering the Essex House (blind but pretty much knew which hotel thanks to this board) was $129. The pluses of priceline are that I saved some money (around $50). The pluses of hotwire are that I could've saved time by spending less time (not getting a bid, researching, waiting, rebidding on priceline) and just getting the room at a good price, though not as low as on priceline. The other potential advantage of hotwire is that one can perhaps guess which hotel you're getting with greater certainty. Again, you pay a bit more for that though. Thanks for your help and to others for posting their winning bids.Regards,David Link to comment
dlublin
Thanks for the tip on customer favorite. I liked Le Parker Meridien a lot too. However, they have another customer favorite in that zone too (think it is the Intercontinental) so it is hard to tell which hotel you might be getting for that.In the end, I bid on priceline, vowing not to go about $125 for a 4* since I knew I could get it (probably the Essex House) for $129 on hotwire. I got the Essex House for $115 on priceline, a nice little savings of around $50.As I posted on the hotwire board, this bid shows the pros and cons of both priceline and hotwire. thereuare
Glad you were successful and got a hotel you're happy with!NYC has been sorta crazy the last 24 hours with the power failure and all, but i'm sure things will be back to 'normal' and in full swing by next week.Have a great trip and enjoy your stay.PS- this is UM/CPS zone?
