Priceline Hotel: Hotel in downtown Austin, Texas?

Hello! I am new to BB, so I hope I'm posting in the correct place...I'm happy to move this elsewhere if not.

I have a conference from April 24-28, and the conference hotel is at the Hilton (500 E. Fourth Street). I'd like to try using this site to get a better rate than the conference rate ($189 + tax/night) on a nearby 4-star hotel. I tried using the maps feature, and it looks like if I restrict to the downtown zone with 4-stars I can get 4 hotels that are within walking distance of the Hilton (including one that is the Hilton); however, there is one outlier--the AT&T hotel. So I'm nervous about bidding and winding up at the AT&T Hotel, which wouldn't be convenient as I'd have to take a cab back and forth.

Any advice on how to get within walking distance of the downtown Hilton is hugely appreciated!! Many thanks in advance!!

There is no way to specify a particular property or properties within a given area - one has to be willing to accept any properties at the star rating chosen in the zone/s chosen. HOTWIRE is a better choice, as one can try to take an educated guess as to which hotels are showing based upon information given on each listing.

If HOTWIRE is of interest, is there a listing showing of interest when you search? If so, please provide the zone, star rating, price, complete list of amenities and date/s. If you want to risk PRICELINE, let us know.

You can take the bus from AT&T Conference Center, and it's $2/day for an unlimited bus pass, but by memory, you'd still have several blocks to walk also.

Besides HOTWIRE, you can try LMTClub.com (free membership with TRAVELTWEET promotion code) - some hotels are cheaper than your convention rate and in easy walking distance.

Also try PRICELINE EXPRESS - possibly some hotel can be reasonably identified.
