etozion
It was not like that before. 10 years ago you could rent at PHX as low as $4 a day. All car rentals had independent lots near airport. Everything changed when they build new CONSOLIDATED car rental terminal! That resulted in leveling competition, terminal tax, city tax, tourist tax, stadium tax, tax, tax, tax, ... You've got the picture. Car rental becomes more expensive than in LAX. Link to comment
thereuare
I've said it before (but haven't in awhile) that rental companies are an easy source of tax revenue for capital improvements to roads, airports, etc. Often these types of capital improvement expenditures (and how to pay for them) had to be approved by the voters, and it's easy to get voter approval since locals (those who would be doing the voting) seldom have a need to rent a car from the local airport yet could benefit from road and airport improvements. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
