kalusalu
Hi,I'm looking to book a hotel in New York City between August 25th to September 02. I would prefer 1 room (2 adults and 2 toddlers), preferably 4*. I would like to end up in Midtown East area or Theatre District. What should my bidding strategy be and what could I expect to pay? Is it to early to start bidding? I am presuming this time is close to start my bidding?Any help would be greatly appreciatedThanksK Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding!PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and please click each of these links before replying.Thanks. kalusalu
I don't mind a one bed room as my kids are very little.ThanksK Link to comment
WillTravel
I think the problem is that the hotel might mind, because it would violate their fire occupancy rules. Not necessarily a huge risk, but possible. Link to comment
kalusalu
Oh, because I have done it before in Florida with no issues -- I have 6 rebids on a 4* in NY (Times and Theatre District).ThanksK Link to comment
thereuare
Oh, because I have done it before in Florida with no issues...NYC is very different then most of Florida... the latter being a family destination that is used to catering to families and therefore many hotels have two beds per room and are designed on the larger size... the former has some of the highest real estate rates in the country, has many solo business travelers, and as a result rooms are often designed substantially smaller than elsewhere in the country. Rooms of 150-175 sq. ft. are not unheard of.I have 6 rebids on a 4* in NY (Times and Theatre District). You actually have SEVEN re-bid zones at the 4* level in NYC... feel free to confirm them with the board or ask further questions if you're unsure or still believe there to only be six.If you're willing to take the double/quad occupancy risk i think you're looking at ~$225-$250 for a 4* hotel in either the TS or MTE zones... what is your maximum budget for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare
If you want to try for a 4* hotel first, and only bid the MTE and TS zones, you can try as follows:Using your SEVEN re-bid zones (see If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.)...Select 4* MTE...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $153, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $153, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and TS...Bid $158, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $163, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $168, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $173, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175Any questions feel free to ask.
