Trying to win the Marriott or another 4*+ property in Aruba for 4 nights, 5/26-5/30. Tried $96 and didn't win. Going to try $101 tomorrow as it looks like others are winning in that range.

The regular rate for the Marriott is showing at $219 right now for our dates.

Using this site's links. Any tips appreciated.

Thanks!

You have time to start low and increase your bid by $5-$10 every 24 hours, but at current prices my guess is that you'll need to be in the $120-$145 for these dates.

Sorry to report that both $111 and $116 didn't work. Hoping $121 is the lucky winning bid tomorrow...

Wondering if it's better to wait a bit...

Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move even higher, between now and your stay, it all depends upon supply/demand and how actual reservations/cancellations come in relative to expectations. However, you're not even up to the range that we thought a win would be likely, so i think your beginning bids were just too low for these dates, not necessarily that it is too early. Also, if the rate you quotes above ($219) was for your complete stay, rates for the first nite of your trip have actually increased since you posted that information (the first nite is now $279/nite)

While there are often times 4* hotels in this area go for sub-$100, it's not that uncommon for it to take $120+.

Didn't win at $126-$136 either...so decided to book the Holiday Inn via Booking.com for $128 per night ($560 total after taxes). $136 bid added up to $616 with taxes.

Surprised to see the other thread with a $120 win for the Westin that includes my expensive date of 5/26. Tried $120 bid for a Resort and didn't win.

We're happy with the Holiday Inn. The location is right on the beach where we wanted to be. Didn't want to risk bidding on the 3-stars and getting some properties listed here as past wins.

Thanks for your help.
