I haven't decided anything yet for my NYC trip. That request for help is still pending until I know the firm dates for the trip come mid-March. I will follow up on that one when I know more. Unfortunately, my husband's schedule in only available 1 month at a time. We just don't know April's schedule yet.

Thanks for understanding.

The reason I thought $50 might be possible was because I saw on hotwire's retail side the 2.5* Baymont Inn at $50/night. I know that the 2 sides are necessarily compatible, but I figured that if that price was available for a hotel where you can see the name, it might be plausible for bidding as well.

Totally reasonable logic. And you will never know until you try.

I personally think Pensacola is one of the most beautiful places in the US.

You are right, in that the various areas don't have a perfectly clear relationship, but one can still derive a lot of information from them.

Excellent! And it gets easier!!

And I think it is really exciting when one finally has success. Good luck.

You bid University Mall area, but didn't bid Pensacola Beach area? Change of plans, or just haven't got to the Beach area in your bidding?

Do you have a preference among the 3 zones with 3* availability, or are they pretty much equal?

The Baymont Inn and Suites is 2* rated by PRICELINE so not sure how this would relate to your 2.5*/3* bidding on PRICELINE. However, if you want to bid up to $50 for a 3* hotel, i think you can improve your strategy as follows (taking into consideration your recently rejected bids):

At the 3* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

Select 3* Pensacola Bay and University Mall...

Bid $43, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $45, if rejected closer browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* Pensacola Bay and University Mall and re-bid zone2...

Bid $48, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $50

Any questions feel free to ask.

  • 3 weeks later...

My back-up reservation is the Holiday Inn Express Pensacola West-Navy Base for $112/night. We saved so much with our Charlotte hotel and we are using accumulated points to cover our other hotels, we figured we just wanted a nice, reliable hotel even if it is a bit more expensive. Free breakfast is always nice too. :)
