knitwit
Hi,The dates are May 18-22, 2012. Maximum budget--$250 US per night, though I would like to keep it lower (who wouldn't?). I want to be in Zone 2 (central), 5-star. Would consider 4-star if I had a sense of what the hotels in that zone are. Any idea which of the 5-star hotels are showing up?Thanks! Link to comment

knitwit
Thank you. I'm now ready to book this. I'd really like to be centrally located in Rome and just not sure how to proceed. Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Are these still the correct parameters of your stay:The dates are May 18-22, 2012. Maximum budget--$250 US per night, though I would like to keep it lower (who wouldn't?). I want to be in Zone 2 (central), 5-star. Would consider 4-star if I had a sense of what the hotels in that zone are.So you'd first like to bid for a 5* hotel in the Central zone with a maximum bid of $250... if that is rejected then try at the 4* level? Please click each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links, then reply to this thread confirming if the above is correct and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare
When bidding 5* In Rome you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 5* Rome...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $180, if rjeected closer browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Rome and re-bid zone4...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $210, if rjeected closer browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Rome and re-bid zone5...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $230, if rjeected closer browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Rome and re-bid zone4 and re-bid zone5...Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $240, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $245, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $250Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. knitwit
Reporting back. I got up to $255 and was rejected. I'm trying not to take it personally :-) Actually, I will try again tomorrow with slightly higher prices. Given what hotel rooms in Rome cost, that's not unreasonable.I admit, I was a little confused when I went on Priceline today and it told me that I had already bid and to change something. My original bids were yesterday, and even shutting down the browser, restarting it, and using the link above didn't help. What's up with that? Link to comment
thereuare
The 'lock out' period is 24 hours, not a calendar day... had it been a full 24 hours since your last PRICELINE bid? (not since you started the previous bidding cycle?)Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. msherm
Just curious if you were able to get 5* or 4* via Priceline?A friend tried for 4* up to $149 and was rejected (not sure how realistic the offer was, due to $/Euro exchange now...) and ended up booking elsewhere (should've asked me ) Link to comment
