mella1983 Posted January 16, 2012 Report Share Posted January 16, 2012 Hi there,as we are flying directly from NYC to San Francisco, we need further assistance here.Arrival date is 5/24 and we are going to leave SF at 5/26.We also recognized that during that week end will be the traditional carnival in town. So it seems it will be better to book as soon as possible.What area would you recommend for 2 couples from Germany to have the chance to see most of the city without needing too much time from location A to location B.I have really no idea what the prices are during that time, but we don't want to spend more then 110 USD/night if possible for a clean and good located hotel.Looking really forward to your helpRegards,Melanie Link to comment
thereuare Posted January 16, 2012 Report Share Posted January 16, 2012 USE and USW are the most popular areas for being centrally located, but Fishermans Wharf is popular with tourist too (but is 'very touristy'). However, note that some of the USW zone includes the 'tenderloin' area which some people don't like is there is a larger number of homeless in the streets who panhandle for change/money.Let us know what you decide regarding zone(s) and minimum star rating and we'll take it from there. I'll add that HOTWIRE has a 3* hotel in the USE zone (Smoke Free, Internet) which matches previous reports for the Powell Hotel... it gets mixed reviews but a very good location, and at $68 it's fairly inexpensive for this area and might work for your needs (and budget).Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
