Hello, we are planning a trip to NYC for four nights, check-in Thur 7/14, check-out Monday 7/18.

Two adults, one small child, however we are fine risking a one-bed room. Our budget is roughly $100 night, which was fine a week or so ago, but I've noticed the rates rising and rising. Should I wait it out and see if rates come down? Or should I start bidding aggressively now?

We are not concerned with area, as long as it is Manhattan. And somewhat close to subway lines.

Any help or strategy would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

What star rating are you seeking? If still within your budget are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is the goal the least expensive hotel at the lowest star rating you're willing to accept? Are you interested in UES and UWS, bot of which go pretty far north and are not the most convenient for the average visitor?

Thanks for the quick response; We'd like to stay at least 3*. The 2.5*'s seem to get risky, though some can be ok. We'd prefer to stay away from the Uppers.

We'd pay on the higher end of our budget for the highest rated hotel. But I'd also be curious to know just how low we can go to get a respectable 3*, depending on the difference...

Thanks again!

We were waiting for you to click the link :)

Based upon current rates $100 for a 3* or better property is not realistic, imo... what is the best deal you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? What is your game plan if not successful for a 3* at $100?

Thanks for the follow-up.

If you didn't, please check the support page for your non-opaque purchases, where we have links to most of the major hotel chains and online booking agencies, including Travelocity.

Please remember to follow-up your threads with whatever you end up doing for the stay, even if you choose to book direct, cancel your trip, etc.

Hope your stay was a good one.
