Lyn1Lyn
Just decided that hubby and I will be taking a trip together from 8/3 to 8/7.. Was considering going to Manhattan as it is somewhere I have never really had a chance to go for an extended period of time.. I am trying to decide the best plan for us. So here comes the questions:1. Which is best to do and what is most cost effective? I know its possible to either stay in NY or NJ, and I am open to either. 2.I would like to stay in a nice place for preferably under $150 (fees included) per night.. Is this feasable (sp?).. 3. Also I would like to stay somewhere that is close to public transportation. What would you suggest? 4. Not sure what we will do in the city, may take in a show and go to some museums. (maybe this can give you a better idea of what areas i should pinpoint) My husband knows the city well and how to get around (subway etc) as he works there, but I just want to make sure we are in a good area and hotel.4. 1 more thing, would you suggest leaving the car at home and taking the local railroads to get to the hotel instead of paying for parking? Possibly would cost between $30-$60 round trip (if that) for 2 people depending on a few factors.I was also considering a stay in Atlantic City for that time but I can start another post for that..I hope you can help.... Thanks in advance. Link to comment
thereuare
Please post your Atlantic City request in this thread and keep all posts for this trip in this thread, we'll move it to another section of the board if necessary once a hotel is purchased.Since you're plans are not yet firm we'll stick with generalities... in NYC $150 all-in is only about a $130/nite bid price, which unfortunately at the moment is not likely going to be enough for something 'nice'. A $150 bid price (so about $170-$175 all-in) will increase your chances of getting something 3.5* or higher. In Jersey City you can probably get a nice 4* property with easy access to the PATH train (to commute into Manhattan) for ~$110-$135 bid price ($135-$165 all-in).Atlantic City can probably be done for less than $150 all-in, but it probably will not be a property located directly on the beach/boardwalk.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
