Hotwire Hotel: Monte Carlo Help Needed

:) Please help. I've reserved a room at the Monte Carlo (on EasyClickTravel.com as suggested by this forum) for May 17-20 about a month or two ago. Now some friends want to join us and prefer to stay at the same hotel if not a close-by one. I tried using EasyClickTravel.com but they were unsuccessful at confirming the Monte Carlo for those dates. I have recently put in another request for the Monte Carlo on EasyClickTravel.com for a higher price but my status came back as "requested". What are my chances of getting it this time? Any other suggestions on how I could get the Monte Carlo or upgrade to a better hotel for roughly $390 (that's how much I paid for the successful room at the Monte Carlo). I understand that I have 72 before checking in to cancel with EasyClickTravel so I'm willing to cancel my reservations and book two rooms somewhere else. Thanks in advance for the help.

You should have an answer from ECT within 48 hours. What is the difference in the two rates? The Boardwalk is right next door, but a few noches down on the quality scale from the MC. NYNY is also next door, but you might not get 3 nights at that rate. The Aladdin is across the street.

Rates look up substantially from the time you booked, with even the BOARDWALK HOTEL showing a sold-out condition.

Not the most convenient solution, but if you check a map it may work for you (as a place for your friends to crash for the nite)... QUIKBOOK has the Alexis for less than $100/nite. (rate should be cancellable for $10 if you find something eles in the meantime). I'm short on time right now but if you remind me i'll look further, but this is the best i could find on a quick search for your dates and similar price range.

Please use this QUIKBOOK link if/when you book it.

Yes everything looks like they're being sold out. :) I haven't heard from ECT just yet. I will let you know asap. I've never stayed at the Aladdin but it seems nice when I walked by. If you could get me two rooms there for a decent price I'm willing to cancel the MC. I will keep the Alexis as a last option. I do want to try and get all the bookings done by this Friday incase price goes up again.

Thanks for your quick responses. :)

That's the thing... due to higher rates i don't think you're going to get something equal to the Monte Carlo for the price you have already locked-in (unless thru a consolidator like EasyClickTravel who actually own rooms at the hotel for a given nite)

The Aladdin's website shows them sold-out for the first nite of your stay (making a purchase there thru any source much more unlikely although not unheard of) and the other two nites are both over $200+/nite.

Let's wait to see what happens with your On Request from Easy Click, although keep in mind it may take more than 48 hours to hear back from them (just from experience).

What is the price of each?

Orleans @ $77/nite

Tropicana @ $250/nite

Are these the right prices?

If so, i would keep your room at the Monte Carlo and get the other at the Orleans. Tropicana is a bit outdated and certainly not worth that price just to be on the strip... Orleans is good but as you know, off the strip and you need to get into a vehicle to get anyplace; but for the price, is a good value.

I'd use one room at the Monte Carlo as a 'base' and just use the Orleans as a place to sleep for your friends and as an alternative to hang out once during your stay.

The Tropicana has long passed its prime. Even though its location is right on the corner of the Strip and Tropicana Ave, it pales in comparison to the other 3 casinos it shares that corner with (Excalibur, MGM Grand, and NYNY). I've stayed MANY times at the Orleans and have become a repeat customer.

Its location is on Tropicana Ave, but it is about a mile East of the Strip (other side of the 15 fwy). I usually drive to Vegas or when I fly, I rent a car, so driving isn't a problem. The Orleans has very nice rooms (standard is 450 sq ft, larger than most regular rooms), an 18 screen movie theatre on the 2nd floor and even a 70 lane bowling alley. The buffet is very good (several stations offering different types of food: Mexican, Italian, American, Mongolian BBQ, Chinese, much more and a very good dessert section too). The casino is big and seems to be quite roomy with high ceilings. Sometimes one can feel suffocated in the smaller smokier casinos. They also have a free shuttle to the strip. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Thanks for the suggestions! thereuare you were exactly right with the prices they offered. I booked the tropicana because it was closer to the monte carlo and I was afraid that if I waited, it would be sold out too. I'll definitely let them know about the Orleans great review. Thanks SOOOO much. :)

Maybe this isn't the right forum for this, but could is there info somewhere on how easyclicktravel.com works? From nle24's first post, it sounds like it works somewhat like priceline.

But what I am curious about is how to identify the hotels. For example, there is a 4* hotel available on easyclicktravel.com from June 3-5th for $250/night. Any idea what hotel it is? And are these prices posted here good rates?

Thanks!

nle24,

The Tropicana is certainily closer than the Orleans... but i think it's a waste of money for the hotel you're getting. If at the Orleans i wouldn't rely on the hotel's shuttle for all my transportation needs (as planning your trips around their schedules can get annoying), but it's probably less than a $10 cab ride from one hotel to the other... you can take a LOT of roundtrips and still come out ahead of the game.

Please use the links we provided above for your purchases.

TravlinCali,

EasyClickTravel offers both opaque and non-opaque offerings. The opaque offerings are referred to as "Off the Record" deals.

You can use our EasyClickTravel Reverse Look-up tool and our Easy Search for Easy Click tool for help in their hotel selection. (both are listed under our "Free Tools" near the top of the board)

We went with Tropicana because the guys said they don't care about the rooms they rather be within walking distance from us. Lasvegastouristbureau.com is offering Tropicana for $185/night so we booked with them. Thanks again for all your help and effort. :)
