thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! This matches what has previously been seen for the Sheraton Suites except that when it was last seen this property was rated 3 stars. We have no evidence of such, but my guess is that it has since been upgraded to a 3.5* property. If you select it please let us know how it turns out and use this HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.Let us know if we can be further help. legab25
hello,I had an offer for $72.00/night on Hotwire for a 3.5* for 5/6-5/9 in Alexandria Old Town. The hotel, based on the moderator's comments' seems to be the Shertaon suites. But when I look at some of the winning bets on Priceline, it looks like I could have a better deal. Could someone help me with the best strategy to get either a 3 or 4*? Thanks a lot. Link to comment
thereuare
There are two Alandria zones on Priceline.. which one is it that you're looking for? (or is there some other zone in the region that you would consider?)Are you familiar with and understand PRICELINE RE-BIDDING as this concept will be used in whatever strategy we supply. Please read that link and ask questions if you are confused at all.PS- please keep all posts for this stay in this thread, we'll ultimatley move to whichever service provider is used Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
legab25
Thanks for your answer. I am pretty open zone-wise as I will have a car, Alexandria Mt. Vernon , Alexandia Pentagon ou Arlington Crystal City is fine with me. I tried to understand the strategy but I never bid on Priceline before and I do not fully master the idea of rebidding by adding a zone without having an hotel in your own category. Call me stupid !!! :) How do you know if there is not an hotel in your category in the new zone you are adding. To be honest, I am kind of lost. Any help would be welcome. Keep up the excellent job, that is an amazing site. Once I will have understood how it really work, it will be one to keep handy for future travel. Link to comment
thereuare
Not a problem, we'll take it one step at a time and help you get over any hurdles that are in your way...From the link above:The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time.So a good idea is to write each zone in the area down on a piece of paper and then go thru the above exercise of looking at the star levels offered at one zone at a time. Try the above and post back your findings (or where you get tied up)... once we get thru the re-bidding procedure we'll roll up our sleeves and get into the bidding! :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
legab25
I found a 3* for $58 a night in Fairfax. [5/6 - 5/9]Selected amenities include: Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Golf Nearby, Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service). View complete amenity list and description Ref No. 6621901528 It might be the Hilton Garden Inn. Any idea of what hotel it could be?Thanks. Link to comment
TravelGuy
My guess would be that it's probably the Hilton Garden Inn, or less likely, perhaps the Courtyard by Marriott Fairfax/Fair Oaks. They're both 2.5* on Priceline, and I'd suggest you try there first. If available through Priceline for those dates, you should get it for no higher than $45. Link to comment
legab25
Thanks TravelGuy for your feedback.I was looking at HOTWIRE as I have the $30 coupon. I would go with Priceline if I can have the room for less than 48.00. Link to comment
thereuare
So are you only looking at the Fairfax zone at this point? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
thereuare
You have one re-bid zone when bidding for 2.5* in this area... i would start by bidding $33 and then $36 on a re-bid.If the above fails wait 72 hours and try $40 and then $45, if that fails take the offer thru HOTWIRE.If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read RE-BIDDING EXPLAINED and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zone with the board.Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
