skylady
i kept bidding up for 3.5 stars and got the hudson / july 18-23 $150 a night, good deal.....unfortunately i was doing it for my 70 year old parents of all the hotels. i called priceline willing to up to any price for something more appropriate for their age group ... don't have to tell you how that went. Called the hotel direct explained the situation they also agreed that this hotel may not be for everyone in that age group but they couldn't do anything either....i have used priceline so many times always happy with what i get (would have been ok if it was myself/husband). Any suggestions from anyone???? NOTE: there is nothing wrong with the hotel itself but if you take a look at it you will see it's a young, night club, dormitory style accomadation, boutique hotel if you will....the concierge agreed that they sometimes get older people but not that old (ha ha) Link to comment
WillTravel
Can you pay to upgrade them to a more comfortable room than the standard tiny one? Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Sorry to hear that the result of this PRICELINE bid isn't optimal.PRICELINE will not be able to change the reservation - the suggestion above to call the hotel and explain the situation and see if a larger/different room can be arranged is a excellent suggestion. Otherwise, this hotel is quite well located near Central Park, and if your parents are going to be out most of the day and will be primarily sleeping in this property, hopefully it will work out as just a place to sleep.Thank you for sharing your result with the board and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay. thereuare
I wouldn't exactly call the rooms here "dormitory style accomadations"... yes, they're small (very small in fact), but they're 'chic', clean, etc. and i wouldn't expect any fraternity type noises in the halls. This is a nice and well appointed hotel... just with very small rooms. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for your future travel purchases... and we hope you continue to share your results with the board. BradDCA
I wouldn't use PRICELINE or HOTWIRE unless I was comfortable getting ANY hotel in whatever zones I bid. I've stayed at the Hudson before and your parents should be fine there. Link to comment
candigirl
Sorry about that! I had to giggle as I thought of your dad with a pimp cane and some wrap-around sunglasses. :) I wonder if the hotel has handicap/disabled access rooms? I kinda thought it was required. If so, maybe they can get one of those rooms. That said, I wish I was going to be there the same dates, we could swap! Link to comment
