  2. Sometimes things break... including websites. As technology evolves and customers want more features from websites, updates (some minor / some major) are needed, and unfortunately sometimes adding one feature has unintended consequences. There is usually quite a bit of QA testing that goes on, but as each person uses a website slightly differently, it's nearly impossible to account for every possible scenario before releasing an update. I can assure you that PRICELINE / HOTWIRE both want to sell you a hotel room, make it as easy as possible to book, and have the overall purchase experience be positive. It may take a few days for them to get around to it, but now that they are aware of the issue i'm sure it will be fixed soon. Hope you're enjoying the weekend away from home.
  3. I shouldn't have to work around to get the correct service in 2020. If it's advertised in $CAD and they can't sell it, then whats the point? Why waste people's time? frankly surprised the lack of value both Hotwire and Priceline can get these days, as I am certain, in Canada at least, that there is a huge amount of hotel room inventory sitting vacant. Seems to me you get better offers when they are fighting for your business. i ended up booking a private inn that will discount rooms the closer you get to the date, which for me is this weekend. I have often found Hotwire and Priceline to be frustrating, and hardly that much of a deal, considering the restrictions of buying through them. great if you are not familiar with the towns landscape, but if you are familiar with hotels, and cities, then you're sometimes better off finding your own deal.
  4. Looks like the issue still exists, although i will note that if you start your search directly at HOTWIRE the CAD prices are correct (within a few dollars) within the search results page. Once you click an offer the price shows as lower (using the USD numerical value but still with the CAD currency designation)... then when you click to the detail page the 'We hate it when this happens...' message appears with the correct CAD amount. As a side note, this reminded me of my first travel to Europe 30+ years ago. The locally currency exchange rate was 1 = 1.5USD. I remember the numerical prices of everything was the same... but in reality was 50% more expensive than in the US.
  5. Yup, i see you figured out the issue... there is something wrong with HOTWIRE's currency selector and although it indicates the rates are in CAD currency, the numerical value is in USD; once you get to the check-out page the system double-checks the price vs. availability, realizes the price shown can't be booked, and adjust the price accordingly. I'll have a look in the morning and if the issue still persists i'll bring it to their attention. Thanks for the post.
  6. So, the issue is that the prices I see being displayed in $CAD are actually $US rates, but I am trying to buy in $CAD. It doesnt let me. This is the same across the board for Hotwire, it appears. I can get my deal, but In $US, which is still (ironically) higher than the posted hotel rate. I'm off to Booking.com, or direct to the hotel.
  7. I can see the standard rates, but they cannot be booked. The issue is the prices are actually $US, but it shows them in $CAD. When you try book, it does not work. It tells you price is higher.
  8. Just tried Halifax - Nova Scotia dates for November 6-9. Every standard rate booking I try gives me the same reply. I cant book without a price increase.
  9. St Johns Delta Same thing Courtyard Marriott same thing Hilton Garden St Johns ..... you guessed it Man, do I have something wrong in my browsers? I can book Hot Deals, but get the price bump for all their standard bookings. I guess I can try a few other cities......
  10. Here is a link to what I am talking about. Even if I try to book a week in advance, I cannot book this hotel. Tried other discount price hotels and same thing. Figured with COVID, getting a hotel deal would be a breeze.
  11. September 17th, 2020 Hotwire Issue - Price bumped higher for standard rate hotels. I am getting this for every single "standard rate" room in a hotel for St Johns, NL, specifically a Doubletree Hilton. When I click to book, I get two options for every room, a cheap rate, and a reduced rate. No matter what I click, I get the same "we hate when this happens" message. I tried a few discount rooms in the city on Hotwire, and same result. Why bother? Not a great business model. I tried 2 -3 different browsers, and also tried to book on my IPAD. Same result. So not my cookies, etc. "We hate it when this happens... The price of your trip has changed from $90.36 to CAD 119.00 average per night. Rates can change frequently. Book now to lock in this price." Plus taxes "We hate it when this happens... The price of your trip has changed from $83.26 to CAD 109.65 average per night. Rates can change frequently. Book now to lock in this price." I can book at the hotel website direct for $99. WTF?

  13. Congratulations on your success! Glad to see it was the hotel you were hoping for and that we were helpful in giving you the confidence to move forward. Thank you for sharing your results and using the HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchase. Enjoy your stay... let me know if you have any questions about that city that i can assist with.
  14. Ah makes sense, thanks! I did book it using the link and it was indeed the Courtyard Marriott
  15. Reveal Hotels uses multiple methods to research hotels, the algorithm for some method(s) takes milliseconds for the server to evaluate, others can take a bit longer (in extreme situations up to 30 seconds). So if there was no 'instant ID' it just means that the method(s) that can be done in milliseconds did not work for this property, but after clicking the link if you were given a hotel name with a confidence level of 'EXCELLENT', you should be able to have confidence in this ID (it just required one of the methods that takes a bit longer to compute ) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how it goes, or if i can help answer any NYC questions for you, as i'm very familiar with the city.
  16. Oh thanks! Sorry I didn't realize the links expire. Your RevealHotels.com site could not automatically identify it ( Our Guess: no Instant ID found) but when I clicked on the link it guessed it was the Courtyard Marriott with "Excellent" confidence. Here are the details for the hotel room. It seems to match up to the Courtyard. Dates of travel: Oct 19-25 Hotwire rate for those dates is $79/night Regular price on Hotwire is listed as $159* * Hotel details on Hotwire 3.5-star Hotel in Upper East Side area Other details: Guest ratings Very good! 4.2 Rating details Condition of hotel 4.1 Quality of service 4.3 Room comfort 4.2 Room cleanliness 4.4 Amenities Free internet Business center Smoke-free rooms Accessibility Accessible bathroom Accessible for hearing impaired Accessible for visually impaired Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Health and safety measures New Information is provided directly by the hotel. 17. Welcome back! HOTWIRE links expire about 30 minutes after the search, so you can see by clicking the link above that it redirects to HOTWIRE's home page and we can't see any details of this hotel offer. Can you please provide the dates of your stay and some information about this property and we can confirm for you if it is indeed the Courtyard. Also, have you tried to use our sister site RevealHotels.com which, in most cases, will automatically identify the hotel for you. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know further details about your travel dates and hotel description and/or how you make out thru RevealHotels.com

  21. Thank you for passing along this deal and for having your friend use the board PRICELINE link. Not only a nice deal, but puts the two of you within a stone's throw of each other, so should still be quite convenient for meeting up. Thanks again for the post and wishing you both a great time in Vegas!
  22. Hi all I am posting this deal on behalf of a friend. I helped him to get the following hotel using the PRICELINE link on this site. New York New York for October 25-30. Daily room rate: $31.00 Total with taxes and fees: $376.80 (after $25 coupon code I had). This is best deal I have seen on this hotel that I have stayed at in the past. The MGM Resorts website wanted $43 a night and and Priceline was showing a non-express rate for $31, but he could not use the coupon. I tried to get them to stay at the Vdara where I am at for these days, but he is on a very tight budget. In all I think he got a great deal on a nice hotel.
  23. Congrats on the lower rate and kudos to you for sticking with it, continuing to check rates. We're probably 3-4 months away, but we do have plans to re-launch RateDrop which will do all of the monitoring for you! Hope your lucky streak continues in Vegas!
  24. I am posting another follow-up, as I found an even better room rate via the PRICELINE link on this site. I was to get the same type of room at the same hotel for less. Below is my new room rate information. Daily rate: $55.97 Total with taxes and fees: $607.30 vs $665.65 Just telling anyone that pays to shop around, especially after you have booked a refundable room rate.
  25. Came to say the same. I looked and looked and swore I was missing something. "HOW ON EARTH CAN I NOT FIND THE NYOP?!" I thought it was just the redesign. Or not enough coffee... but sure enough, it appears gone forever.
  26. HOTWIRE has some of the best travel deals since the name of the hotel is not revealed until after purchase... RevealHotels provides insight into which hotels are being offered. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
