  4. We are hoping to get a - 5* hotel - Aspen Colorado - 17 - 21 January 2020 - for as little as possible Any ideas?
  5. I first got an email from the executive offices offering me what you had suggested they might: cancel for full refund or keep the reservation for a 20% refund. I rejected that and told them in an email that "Your contract states that I may receive a minimum recovery of $5000 if I take this issue to arbitration and am awarded by the arbitrator an amount greater than Priceline's last written settlement offer. If I do not hear from you again within 3 days I will initiate the arbitration process." I also sent them a copy of a very formal-looking arbitration complaint that I had prepared to initiate the arbitration process. (It is sometimes helpful to be a retired attorney.) Approximately 3 days later I got a phone call in which they upped their offer. I had earlier told them I would not post the actual amount here. I will state that I initially told them I was willing to settle by keeping the existing reservation at no cost to me. The Express Deal I originally accepted was for a 3-star hotel, 1 King Bed + Sofabed - Standard Room; Empire State Building area (should have been Times Square area); $96/night Dec. 22-Dec. 26; Taxes and Fees $130.64, for a total charge of $514.64, for the Hyatt Place New York City/Times Square. I don't believe that hotel it is being offered as a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal now, but today's posted price on Priceline is $254/night for total cost of $1,307. (The posted price today for the other Hyatt Place, in the Empire State Building area is actually lower, at $196/night.) Also interesting is that Booking.com describes the Hyatt Place Times Square as being in the Hell's Kitchen area. Thanks again for your help and support. This is a great site!

  8. Star rating: 5* City: New York Zone: Soho or Times Square Travel Dates: 14 - 17 January Room Rate: The minimum/as little as possible for a 5* hotel
  9. So what was the offer that you agreed to? Were there any previous offers that you had turned down? This will likely take 3-4 weeks before you see any changes on their site. Can you please also confirm the room rate per nite when you paid (before any settlement you worked out with PRICELINE) so we can accurately reflect this in the topic title of the thread. Glad to see you were able to get this resolved. Enjoy the holidays in the city!
  10. Priceline made an offer to settle our dispute and I accepted it. However, as of this morning, their website still incorrectly shows the Hyatt Place New York City/Times Square property as being in the Priceline Empire State Building area.
  11. Congratulations on your success! Looks like a great deal and hope this works well for your plans. Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your purchase. Enjoy your stay.
  12. Thank you for sharing your results with the board. Not sure if you didn't like either of the hotels above, but each was offered for substantially less than $160, so not sure why you continued to raise your bid over the price of the ones above. Be sure to use our BiddingHelper.com for your future bidding, as it: 1) will offer a guess as to the PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE hotel being offered for 2) shows regular rate prices of hotels of the same star rating in the zone, thereby determining if the PRICELINE EXPRESS / HOTWIRE offer is a good deal or not, and makes it easy to know what your maximum bid for a hotel of this star rating in the zone should be 3) has a priceline bidding form 'ready to go' if you decide not to go with the PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE offers Hopefully once you got PRICELINE on the phone it was easy enough to have them refund the difference and that you ultimately had a fun time in NYC! Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Feel free to ask for a strategy before bidding in the future as i'm sure we could have prevented this overbid.
  13. I started bidding at $130 and it was accepted at $160. With taxes, fees, and "resort" fee all in would have been $236. Then I looked at the hotel's actual website, which gave me a base fee of $130. I spent 50 minutes on the phone to get them to refund the difference per the Best Price Guarantee. This is the second time I've found a cheaper price on my own and had to call to get the difference, and I've only done Priceline about 10x.
  14. Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and that you're pleased with the results. Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please click the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Enjoy your stay.
  15. Congratulations on your success! Nicely done! Glad to see you received a nice deal and are happy with the outcome. Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your purchase. Enjoy your stay.
  16. Using the newly discovered BiddingHelper.com site, I saw that the Conrad of was going on Hotwire and PLE for about $320 total for the 2 nights. So, I started my bidding to total about 10% less. I probably coulda/shoulda started even lower. I have learned this hotel is undergoing a major renovation project. Hopefully, I can slide a couple Jacksons to the check-in person and get a nice little upgrade if occupancy is low. Grand total is $286.62 with taxes/fees.

  20. Hello! We'd like to get a nice hotel for the night in the West End, Midlothian or Midlothian South (Priceline) area, last 2 which have 3.5* as the highest rating, which is preferred but 3* can work if there just isn't anything. Would like to stay for $75 a night (before fees, taxes) if possible. We are driving in, so we'd like the amenity of free parking. Not sure if we should get a Name Your Own Price, Express deal, or Hotwire deal. If NYOP, please give a bidding strategy? They seem to be moving away from this though... Please advise. Thank you!
